@luke_ouellette had a great suggestion of the 2A Political Category.
I would also suggest a category for Home Defense Tactics and Equipment.
A lot of great suggestions by everyone so far.

The Legal/Political Category is up. I’m pondering the home defense tactics and equipment because there is so much overlap with carrying defense.
Do we break it up
Home Defense
a. Training
b. Gear
Carrying
a. Training
b. Gear
OR
Training
a. Carrying
b. Home
Gear
a. Carrying
b. Home
Feedback? Thoughts? This one I’m not going to jump on too quickly because I want to make sure we are going the right direction.
I like your first option
home defense
a. Training
b. Gear
Carry

Hi Dawn,
I like the first option. Training is sooo important for any discipline of weapons and equipment.
At first I thought the second option was better but now looking at it again, home defense and conceal carry to two different situations if you will. Thus I believe that it should be broken down into your first option with carry and home defense as separate categories.
I like the idea of have different opinions
Tom
I like what that said.
I like the first option. Ccw and home defense are two very different things, with 2 very different skill set. For home defense I’m more about running the pump action on my 12 gauge, and if I’m clearing the house with a pistol, it won’t be holstered. For defense outside the home, clearing my holster, and concealment garments become more paramount.
How about 20 comments, but instead of 24 hours, make it 12 hours. When I was politely told the “shut up”, haha, it seemed like forever to be able to post. I got up the next day and saw that I still had 12 hours to go! I got a lot of important stuff to say! (Kidding). I understand the reasoning behind it, but you can certainly find yourself reaching the limit quickly. I certainly did.
Wondering if its possible for a “Discounts” section? It could be limited to only gun related vendors or just a general discount section broken into subcategories. There are quite a few companies that offer discounts to veterans and/or first responders that I have benifited from, plus the ones that offer random discounts to everyone. Just a thought.
That is something we’re considering for the future, @Kerryman71!
For right now, be sure to check out the USCCA Member-only discounts on your dashboard.
Thanks. Figured I’d throw it out there. There’s one company in particular that once my credentials were approved by them, the discount was pretty steep. I didn’t want to just go blurting things out here without checking with USCCA first
Great idea! We get discounts as USCCA members as well. I was going to mention them in some threads but was limited to how many responses I could give on day 1 and then was sick and wasn’t online. I am a loyal type person and believe in supporting people / companies that give back and support First responders, military, USCCA, and other causes I believe in . I would defiantly shop with those people first.
Monday question! Every Monday I ask for some feedback. Here’s one I’ve been wondering about this last week:
Are you OK with posting video links or would you like to see us host videos on the platform in the future?
There’s still a few hours to vote on how many comments you think a newbie to the Community should be able to post in a 24-hour timeframe. (Sorry, 24 hours is hard coded at this point. I’ll have to have one of our technical wizards look to see if we can change the timeframe.)
Video links are fine, unless groups like YouTube start taking down USCCA videos, then I would rather they be onsite.
I believe USCCA identified videos would be better in that this would put the USCCA name out more and add to our credibility and professionalism.
I’m inclined to agree with the others at the moment. Since the USCCA videos are out there on YouTube and haven’t been taken down I don’t see any reason to stream it on the community. Unless it had something to do with the community in general or some sort of training that would be shown on the community first and then posted later…?
Id love to see more videos on here… but not just USCCA… id like to see videos of what other people are watching to supplement training redgiments… weather its physical fitness or cqb pistol/rifle training… anything that would benifit people no matter what the source is…
I think seperate threads for home defense and gear is nice, because a year from now it could be home defense/gear, home defense/training, home defense/outdoor security, home defense/cameras, and so on and so fourth.
I think posting video links is great, there are plenty of guys I enjoy watching like Clint Smith (even though his vids violate every community standard) and Pat Mac, and other people may not know of them and would love to hear their takes on self defense training. But I could see how it could get out of control.
