kind of wrong math here… ![]()
I joined USCCA several months ago. Didn’t use this goofy forum till I heard about his ridiculous ‘open letter’.
Please remember the reason we’re all here - to have great, productive conversations about all things self-defense. We don’t expect everyone to agree, but we do expect everyone to have a certain level of civility/respect in their interactions.
@SmallTownGunRunner is welcome to share his thoughts about the letter Tim sent to President Biden. We want his feedback, just as we want all members’ feedback. We know that no matter what we do, we will never please 100% of people 100% of the time. We will continue to focus on our mission to help responsible Americans keep their families safe.
Exhibit B - “legalized” Marijuana.
I think we can all agree that using what we regard as the goofy choice is the most effective means for getting something done. [sarcasm intended]
What makes it ridiculous? Why is it ridiculous to reach out to the elected officials, and voice our opinions. Unlike the NRA, Tim didn’t contact a lobby, and buy a 200,000 dollar suit. He wrote a letter. He didn’t ask us for extra money.
The services you seek are part of your association. This forum is a part of those services. If you do not agree with what the CEO/Founder etc. stated in his letter then you are cordially invited to leave not only the forum but the USCCA itself. If you would like to advocate with your Federal law makers I’m sure we would all love to see what you send them.
Cheers,
Craig6
So, again, your insulting the CEO, of the organization you pay for membership. Tim didn’t ask for any extra from the members. The USCCA is a self defense organization, that primarily trains for the use of a gun. He is also a very outspoken advocate of the 2nd Amendment. What he did, is in line with what 99.99 percent of the USCCA membership feel. You are obviously entitled to your own opinion, but, it is no the opinion of the extreme, vast majority here.
Personally, think it’s a giant waste of time
The anti 2A forces have all of the levers of power right now. I don’t think they are listening.
But I think Tim’s voice, letter and organization would be tremendously useful at the state and Congressional level.
By leveraging the data that I am positive the USCCA has he can target Republican states and push for a pro 2A stance and in states that are purple he can let the Congressman of those states know just how many voters there are that care a great deal and that those same voters are going to be very motivated in 2022 if they go trampling all over their Constituents rights
Just saying.
Most of us learned at a young age that we don’t get to have everything our way all the time. It was around the same time we learned about being polite.
One wonders why you even joined this association. But here’s the good news, unless the policy has changed, Tim offers a 100% money back guarantee on your membership.
I agree @Zavier_D. Local, local, local is the key to thwarting unconstitutional laws.
My biggest issue with this open letter (other than assuming the right to ‘send it’ in the first place) is his acknowledgment of Federal ‘common sense’ laws in any way shape or form. Thanks to politically minded organizations like the NRA (spits on floor) gun owners have been on a defensive footing for years. The only way to secure freedom to enjoy gun rights for the future is to work on repealing ALL federal gun laws and the tyrannical state laws (like California and New York…etc.)
Aside from his use of liberal catch phrases, it’s an unwarranted gamble for him to raise up the USCCA alike a lightening rod in the federal political arena. We’ve seen some states deny coverage of the underwriters and his ‘poking the bear’ isn’t going to make the other coverage areas more secure. I am all for sending messages to the swampy critters in D.C.—I just want to see them delivered from appropriate channels. My US Congressman and US Senator’s offices are on ‘speed dial’ in my phone…as well as the State-level reps as well. If more of the membership would get actively involved in regular communication with these officials (among others), there would be less need to have someone throwing ‘open letters’ out the door.
@45IPAC: If calling someone to task for speaking out in my name is ‘insulting’ then buckle up buttercup, there’s a lot more disappointment ahead.
Don’t get so wound up defending the guy. I’m not saying his intent is wrong, only that I don’t want my insurance and education staff wading into the political arena. I have elected members of Congress and state and county officials to advocate for me. I don’t need a ‘Wayne Mark II’ getting cute on YouTube in my name.
@SmallTownGunRunner you think that the CEO of a primarily firearms based training group doesn’t speak out against infringements on our rights, then you didn’t research the organization very well. Why anyone would have a problem for a voice on their behalf, is beyond me. You might want to buckle up, because Tim speaks on our behalf quite often. If you get agitated over that, then it’s a personal problem.
Name-calling and personal attacks are not allowed in the USCCA Online Community. No one is asking you to agree with everything anyone else says, but keep it civil.
The word Defund !
Exactly! We need this letter to resonate with pro-gun politicians and influencers.
it’s more then i’ve done so far, besides just complaining! thanks tim!
You say “we need to educate Democrats” well, that’s a losing proposition as I recently read a news feed story that was talking about the surge in crime, mostly gun crime in Chicago, NY, Portland, Seattle, and other ultra blue cities and attributed it to that lack of gun control laws.
How can I say it loud enough, IT’S DUE TO YOU MORONS VILIFYING AND DEFUNDING YOUR POLICE.
Due to those rediculous progressive policies it has led to a near panic gun buying surge whereas Joe citizen figures he needs to protect himself and buys a gun. Problem is he don’t get no training and they don’t sell common sense so when he shoots the gas man who’s checking the meter he becomes another arrow in the Democrat’s quiver of why they need more gun laws.
Here’s a novel idea, enforce the ones ya already have. Strawman purchase of a gun by a felon’s girlfriend in Chicago. He shot and killed a guy with said gun, she got probation for the strawman purchase
Too many wtf stories to overcome.
Stay vigilant and fight the good fight my friends in spite of the deck being stacked against you. “As I step down from my soapbox”!
I was at my LGS a few weeks ago, and while I was waiting on some paperwork, two girls came in. They looked out of place, and slightly uncomfortable. When the guy at the counter asked how he could help them, one of them pulled out a piece of paper, studied it for a sec, and asked “do you have any five-hundred-fifty-six ammunition?”
The store didn’t have any – I’m guessing that was probably best for the local community as a whole.
You can pay $200K for a single suit?
