Hi John,

Not sure if you’re even still on as I’ve taken a break myself from this forum. Noticed your response and I thought I’d finally chime in.

So, here’s the real truth that we all tend to forget. Republicans tend to lean towards everyone having a personal responsibility for their actions and the actions of others. Whereas Democrats tend to believe that any result is influenced or impacted by some other factor. A simple example is a person who goes into a supermarket to steal food. Republicans would immediately look at that as a person is committing a criminal act and needs to be held accountable. Democrats would argue that that person should have had the resources so stealing food wasn’t necessary. Now, both are arguably true but approached by different perspectives. The reality is whether republican or democrat, our county has leaned towards a 2 party systems for years and each side hating one another is arguably what they want…creating a divisiveness amongst the people.

So, regarding my logic “not working anymore…”, maybe that’s true for a generation or two…but as the old adage states, “hard times create hard men, hard men create easy times, easy times create weak men, weak men create hard times.” So to me, it’s cyclical and regardless of what it looks like now, things will turn around eventually. All we can do as a society is start demanding more transparency so we can make a decision based on facts. California politicians have increased taxes for decades in an effort to “help” curb the homeless crisis which has steadily gotten worse. How about regardless of which side of the aisle you’re from, we demand to know where these funds have been spent as the problem only got worse. Then if the funds are misused, we can hold the people responsible accountable including (dare is say) jail time. I think if we as a society started holding politicians accountable, we’d see a lot less issues. Then at that point, DNC and GOP can argue how to help people and know that the funds are being spent appropriately.
