Yeah I know guys it’s hilarious! When you’ve gotten so old that from behind, you look like a bullfrog that’s been stood up on his hind legs, it can be problematic. When the butt of your firearm (pun intended) at 4:00 if your left handed, or farther back sticks out more than your own? Appendix carry gets to be uncomfortable for me now and if you got a little extra real estate up front that can be exaggerated, so what do I do?
Well start out with a quality holster, a quality belt with a ratchet buckle, so you can cinch that baby down! Then if you sit or get too uncomfortable you can always push a button and get a little relief. Then the only place for me to carry is 3:30. It is the only place that allows the butt of the firearm to tuck into my body comfortably and not print too much. Other than that when I have to because of clothing I’ll pocket carry again and a good holster.
Shoulder holster just does not work for me. I can’t find a way to not flag someone when drawing standing to the side and I’d have to change my attire which I’m not willing to do. So to all my brothers with no ass this is my solution for me. But in hindsight, (double pun pun) we each figure these things out on our own.
Mine is opposite, I have too much butt and a muffin top. I can conceal alright, my EDC is a compact, but my holster rubs my muffin top and starts chaffing then I start pushing pulling and moving it around.
That was hilarious and brutally honest. “Watch out”, a career comedian may borrow your lines. Yours is a friendly reminder - I gotta work on my health to balance the buttocks out, and tummy in, like when I was 18; Miss those days. Bless you brother.
Loll if I could reach that far behind me I would consider it. Lol. Before someone makes a comment then how do I wipe? Isn’t that what that long-handled brush is for that sits next to the toilet? lol
My wife consistently says I have a great A$$ and passed it along to my 2 boys. That being said up until the last 5 years I have never had a gut. Now at 55 I am feeling the “growth”. Desk job, bourbon, good food, fill in the blanks, my 32’s are needing to be 34’s.
If you put your carry stick on the 4:00 or 8:00 and have a “cantable” holster you can angle it in such a way as to ride nicely below your belt and above your butt. I carried a 1911, M-9, CZ-75 and a few more this way in a Bianchi S2 rig but it seems these are now out of favor as they are leather and have a thumb break.
How you carry is up to you. I have always felt an IWB was key for carry yet I knew a man that could carry a full size 1911 under his man boob or belly flop. I’ve know women to carry under their boob flop . Use what works.
I actually carry daily usually at 3:30 in a belt retained pancake holster comfortably. Usually I’m carrying a Springfield hellcat and sometimes my 4-in barrel Kimber custom super Carry. For me and my body 4:00 or greater seems to print a lot more. My holster is leather custom. It has a 12° cant. That doesn’t work I pocket carry a sig 238 and a good holster.
For me the best solution is o w b at 3:30 being left-handed and a quality custom leather holster. When that doesn’t work I’ll pocket Carry. Usually a good heavy t-shirt or polo shirt and sometimes and untucked button down shirt does the job. It’s a dress-up event that’s my pocket carry usually
I with you. I’m almost 60, no butt and too much belly. I’m also left handed. I’ve tried lots of holsters and have found an IWB with a little forward CANT allows me to carry at between 4 and 5 o’clock. I can carry everything from an M&P shield to a 1911 commander length with no problem. I think the left handed thing is an advantage because no one is looking on your left side. In the summer longer T shirts with some kind of irregular pattern works great. Camo is perfect. Who knew that camo was for hiding what’s underneath and not the wearer.
