@alfarat Good to see you.
I purchased a new Ruger 380, and I received a call from my gun supplier that DOJ needs 30 days instead of 10 days for a background check. What’s really frustrating is I have a CCW in California. This doesn’t make sense to me.
Welcome Terry.
California is a tough one to swallow, sorry for your problem.
Here’s another one that doesn’t make sense. I received my CCW renewal up north in Del Norte County 3 months ago and I had to move back to LA, and I have to go through the whole CCW coarse again.
I can see doing the 8 hour refresher before renewing, but having to do the whole 16 hour course is a bit excessive. Some counties will require the 16 hour course if you are adding firearms to your permit, or if you are dropping some and adding others. I heard of one member (USCCA Forum) in Fresno County that was able to have 6 firearms on his permit, as to where Sacramento has a limit of 3. I have the Glock 22, Beretta 9000s and AMT 22LR Back-up listed (Pocket Pistol / 9 in the Mag +1), but I am thinking of dropping the 9000s and adding the Hell Cat Pro (9mm). It’s not a cheap course; here in Sacramento I have seen it as high as $350 to $400 for the 16 hour course.
I did find one that was $150 in a surrounding area (San Joaquin County), but after travel, the hotel for 2 days, etc. it was more cost effective to just take the $300 16 hour course locally. The drawback is that when adding or exchanging firearms on ones permit, your CCW is invalid while your application is processing to reflect the change in firearms. That takes about 2 to 3 months, or more for the changeover. That or one can wait for their renewal every 2 years and add/remove their listed carry firearms at that time. California is a lengthy process that is filled with bureaucracy, depending upon which County one lives in.
Side note: I love Utah, 6 hour class (Free), $15 for a picture, $25 for the FBI Wet Fingerprint Card and $64.00 for the application and good for 5 years, while carrying whatever you have. I got mine in 5 weeks, from start to finish. I’m really considering moving; however I don’t do well in the snow (Respiratory Issues). Be safe, everyone!
You guys are being abused. In my state, open carry is allowed. (Free) $20 for license to concealed carry, no required training, no finger prints, no maximum number of guns. Good for 5 years. License issued same day as purchase.

Prohibition … the gift that keeps on giving.
When the Senators get done grandstanding, pandering to their base and using the ATF to solicit campaign money, we’ll see if the ATF is still standing.
LA is probably the worst place in CA to get a CCW or buy anything to carry.
anything
San Diego is not as restrictive, I received the original paper certificate with a card, but the card was not valid as SD hadn’t approved it as a valid license. Three months later I added another to my listed 6, and all I had to do was carry the qualification certificate from the instructor to the County Sheriff and pay a modest fee. In the interim the county had approved the carry card, and I got a new card with all 7 listed within 10 days; my original paper was still good during that time. No doubt the laws will go through more iterations before I go through my renewal. Maybe by then the Supreme Court will eradicate all this nuisance infringement stuff.
I tried following him for awhile. His rambling style and speculation became insufferable.
Thanks for the link!
