CCW Woes

I live behind enemy lines in California, and cannot get a CCW for two reasons: 1) The local Sheriff’s Dept. will not accept my application, and 2) The local Police Dept… which is now supposed to handle all incoming applications, claim that they went with some sort of 3rd party “Vendor” that is supposed to “streamline” the entire process online, thereby making it faster and more efficient. That being said, this so-called process is STILL not as yet… up and running, even though it was voted on by our City Council. I have tried IN VAIN to reach out to both the Sheriff’s Dept AND my city’s Police Dept seeking answers to this issue, and at what time shall we citizens know when we can submit our applications, and both departments continue to give me the requisite “canned” e-mail answers stating that “when WE know, YOU’LL know”. This is not acceptable. I KNOW of the games that are being played here. California HATES GUNS, and apparently will stop at NOTHING… including, but not limited to… denying us our 2nd Amendment RIGHT to bear arms… to make sure that we are either bound by some weird law from bearing arms, or by making new laws, mandates, rules, injunctions, etc., to make the bearing of said arms SO impossibly difficult that we the citizens will just… give up. NEVER! I just wish that there was something else that I could do. This is unfair.

@Ed_209 Welcome to the community, we are glad to have you here. :slightly_smiling_face:
We hear this complaint a lot, the usual advice is to move to a freer State.

CA, on the whole, isn’t that bleak, especially after the Bruen decision. However, there are still issues in the more heavily populated cities in this state. I used to live in Santa Clara County where you couldn’t get a permit without giving at least $100k donation to Sheriff Smith’s re-election campaign. But there’s a LOT of real estate in CA where permits are easily obtainable. Organizations like CRPA & California Gun Rights Foundation have been doing great work in various counties to ensure permits get issued.

And don’t buy into the hooey about needing to move to another state. If every former CA resident in TX, AZ, ID, NV, etc., moved back to CA, we’d have a very different state. And as we’ve seen repeatedly, the stupidity that originates in Sacramento frequently moves into Congress and affects all states. Trump helped us with SCOTUS and the 9th Circuit and we’re on the verge of overturning the AWB (again), magazine capacity limits, the annoying handgun roster, and there should be some activity on the ammo background check soon. Saint Judge Benitez has at least two of these cases and should be issuing his rulings “soon”. I can’t wait to read them. They’re usually pretty entertaining and make Newsom turn beet red.

As far as I can tell at this time the options are break the law and risk prison with a permanent loss of Rights and Liberty, don’t carry (and don’t buy or own any of the huge list of guns illegal in CA), or move

I’ve got to agree with you there saying California isn’t that bleak. I got proved wrong on a reddit forum this week by a Cali permit holder who never shot a gun. When I looked into it, there’s a written test, no shooting, no 8 hour course, and Cali is a “shall issue” state, something perhaps the local powers that be should be reminded of I’d imagine…

It won’t matter how far you move, when Newsome becomes President/King.
There will be no escape!
Coming here was your first best move!
Welcome aboard!

No problems getting a CCW in Fresno and Madera counties.
FWIW, the 3rd party vendor our SD uses has a very fast turn around.

I’m more concerned about the CA State DOJ releasing my personal information on their website.

If every current conservative in California left, and distributed themselves among maybe half a dozen strategic blue states, those states would tip dramatically red, and so too would go the electoral college.

Wouldn’t it be better to just make CA red again, with its 55 electoral college votes and 53 members of the House? Wouldn’t it be better to have Conservatives in the House to replace the likes of Swalwell & Schiff? Nobody would even know the names of the bobble-heads Kamala Harris & Xavier Becerra if CA was red. The whole nation would benefit on so many levels. We would even be a net exporter of energy rather than begging other states to support us.

That’s about as likely as abolishing the IRS tomorrow

From what I know you just got to keep trying and don’t give up … unfortunately CA is a tough state to carry in with no such thing as self defense in the justice system for my community.
