Branding (Not brandishing)

My personal preference… I will not identify myself as armed. Even as “responsibly armed.”

I won’t sticker my vehicle. I won’t even drive away from a car dealership after a purchase with one of their plates displayed. Unless they would like to pay for the advertising. Mostly depends on the circumstances and location. Around home or the range or casual areas I’m not concerned about my 2A gear. Anywhere else i’d rather blend. But I would proudly display our flag anytime anywhere.

How’s this for brand recognition?

My wife and I went to early vote today. I was wearing a USCCA shirt and hat, and had forgotten my face diaper(mask). Masks are required to enter the building to vote. I politely asked the guard at the desk if they had any disposable masks by chance. He then asked if I’m a USCCA member. After a short discussion of how great the training materials, and legal perks of membership are, he smiled, and said “I extra masks” and gave me one from his desk drawer. Nice to know, one of our fellow members, is there in uniform, watching the courthouse.

I won’t remove my USMC plates or my stickers for anyone!!! Let cowardly terrorists be the cowards they are…

Exactly, and that tactical advantage is huge, not to be underestimated.

In Nebraska, a diagnosis of PTSD can prevent you from owning firearms, yet, with that same diagnosis you can become a policeman in Nebraska… what a disconnect…

@Watchman: A quad 50, now under Joe’s plan, would that be one tax stamp, or four, and I was also wondering what capacity magazine they would be considered to be since they are belt fed.

Just some random curiosity…

Liked your question, clever title. I guess it depends. I’m gathering that most in this string answered similarly. I imagine I weigh the benefits against the risks. I value being “grey” (grey man).

My favorite response was the one who wrote “it’s tactical”. If safety is like a battle of wits, outsmart the offender/perp by avoiding the fight before it begins. What if your more vulnerable loved ones are with you when you get spotted by someone disliking or attempting to hurt you? What’s at risk. Is it worth it? Precious cargo, and expensive cargo.

I’ve a subtle way of protesting though, with pride. I live and work among one of the most anti-gun groups of persons known, and in a non-open carry state. I have to dress professionally. I need to carry certain gear in order to function at work and navigate through our Pandemic trying to reduce my exposure to Covid-19. Part of my daily gear is something many gun owners use, except I use mine for my daily work and even just traveling outside the home. It’s hardly noticable unless one sees me often, and those that see me often are those who I know and trust not to be of criminal element. So, when they see me, if they are keen, they will figure out, hey “that’s something gun owners use/have”. I’m taking a risk of being spotted by a perp, but it’s very low.

I look at it like there are other ways to show one’s pride, beliefs or protest, by supporting causes in other ways. It depends on the time, place, environment. If I’m inside a gun range, at a USCCA or NRA meeting/conference, then most know I’m probably a gun guardian, so there I can wear a logo. But outside of that, my spider senses tell me, “simmer down tiger”. Even the bravest soldiers wear ‘camou’ for a reason. Stealth, maneuverability, reaching the destination safely, and accomplishing the greater overall mission.
