I am VERY proud to be an American. And I have no problems wearing my pride and acting in a way that goes in line with that belief. I have USA flags on my Jeep, my house, my clothing, my bags and tattooed on my skin. I love everything this country stands for, its traditions, history and the values we USED to hold sacred.
I’m also very proud that my children love our country and are true Patriots. These things they learned at home from my wife and I, and this knowledge and feelings empowered them and overpowered/overturned all the woke BS they have had to endure for years in school , in the military and the outside world.
True Pride is not a sin, it is a great internal feeling you get when you do a job well. It is a gift from God that emanates from your Soul and it signals to you that He is pleased with your achievements. It is for you and you alone to experience, but it is Ok for others to see because if it’s a good example, they just might follow, and that pleases God.
BUT, I have no doubt that we are NOT all equal. God makes sure we are born equal, and that we all have opportunities to rise higher every day, BUT what YOU do from there is what defines you in His eyes. And at that many fail miserably, squandering the gifts He blessed you with and straying from the path that guides you through a quality life of purpose.
Anyone that tries to tell me that some cartel coyote, human trafficking children and smuggling Fentanyl into my country is my equal has a twisted sense of reality. I’m think a lot of people feel that way. I think the cartel guy feels like he is better than the Hamas guy that murdered, burned and raped women and small children. Do you think he shouldn’t feel proud because he is better than someone else.
I think the pride means we think we are better than someone else’s. There is always going to be someone better than us. If we think we are better than someone else, someone is go to be better than us. I think we should all strive to be the best we can and give thanks to God for what He has given us.
And as a quick follow up, “pride” as a “deadly sin” is not in the Bible. The list of 7 “deadly sins” came out of the writings of Pope Gregory “The Great” (ironic no?) the last of the Latin (Roman) popes. And it refers to the biblical expression of SINFUL pride which is based on bad actions and not the fulfillment felt about a job well done.
Many facts, stories, information and especially meanings were lost when the Romans translated and then INTERPRETED ancient writings as they decided what the Bible should look and sound like.
Feeling, and more important, acting like you are better than someone else is arrogance. Pride is a poor word for those actions. English is a very feeble language.
