Hi @Ted - check out a few of the current threads, they may help in your overall build. There might be a mention of barrels in these, but others will probably have good suggestions for barrels as well.
@Martin36 It is more like a selection and assembly process. Plenty of good resources online to help you get started. Here is and example:
The only item that has to be handled by a FFL is the bare lower-receiver. All the other parts can be ordered online and shipped directly to your home. Set a budget, select your parts, and take your time in assembly.
As you will see, this 80% lower is forged aluminum and has an open trigger guard. I installed a 3.5 lb Rise Armament drop in trigger. Couldn’t be happier with it.
Building an AR is not hard, but you do need to know where all the parts go. I would start by getting a good build book or two and go from there. Also, be advised, parts availability is very limited right now. A good one is AR-15 builders guide available on Amazon. I have not seen one that doesn’t give the basics for building. If you run into issues with the rifle or have questions on parts compatibility it’s probably better to reach back out to a community such as this. Good luck and let us know…
