Hi, I am a new USCCA member and am looking for recommendations on good instructors that can help with technique/fundamentals/CQB in North Virginia. Extra brownie points for a veteran with a military or SF background
Thank You!
Greetings and welcome, Paul!
Have you checked the site? You can search by location and clicking on the names will give you further details. If the instructor has military experience, they’ll often list it there.
Good luck and I hope that you find an instructor that you’re happy with!!

Not sure about CQB, but Mark Briley with Capital Defense is awesome. I’ve always seen him at NRA range in Fairfax, I think he’ll goto other rangse as well but not sure. He is very personable, will tailor your sessions to your skill level. I’ve come out better after every session with him. Not sure if he is a veteran (never asked) but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was.
I haven’t used them yet, but Green Ops usually gets praise everywhere I’ve seen them. They teach a variety of firearms and skill levels. I don’t see a specific CQB class, but they do offer “Advanced” and “Tactical” classes. Veteran owned and it seems like most/all their instructors are MIL/LEO. They use a variety of ranges.
If you are at the North end of Northern Virginia, XCAL has a good variety classes across skill levels, but I have not used them personally.
