This is actually a pretty seedy part of state street.
Damn man I would be like a cat on a hot tin roof in your neck of the woods.I don’t do well in city’s.Stay low.
Time to start moving on, brother.
I’m starting to believe SLC is only 3 blocks squared
No not 3 blocks, I only report the things that happen in the 3-4 blocks around here. Believe me, it’s going on in other parts of town.
Keep in mind, Salt Lake City is not a hot spot for ridiculous crime. I’ve been here 8 years and it seems the crime that’s reported here may be violent, but the same type of crime in other places isn’t news worthy because it’s so common. Of course I moved here from the Baltimore/D.C. area. SLC isn’t really a “city” …
And here, you can assume that many people you see are likely carrying. Mostly opposite than MD area.
I will agree with Mike164, it does seem like crime could be getting ready to increase since people from Commie-fornia are flooding in…
@Matt_W I suspect DC or Baltimore or Chicago makes Salt Lake look like paradise. It’s actually pretty weird to me, it happens so much and so close. Never used to be like that.
Just going by the blurb and not clicking the link, this seems imminently avoidable for the man who was stabbed…at a bar, late night/early morning, trying to step into a third party altercation…and one involving lethal force (knife) at that.
All decisions that reliably and exponentially increase your odds of becoming injured or killed, and he combined all three at once lol
On a positive note, there were others also willing to aid the woman and the perp was subdued. That was certainly a situation where using your firearm would have been a better method, as long as you could get a safe shooting line.
Seedy? Your standards need some adjusting.
When my wife and I moved from Salt Lake we landed in St. Louis. My wife worked for a hospital in East St. Louis. I worked for Southwestern Bell in downtown St. Louis. I was panhandled every single day walking from the parking lot near Cardinals’ stadium. My wife was not accosted because most the buildings around her parking lot in East St. Louis had been burned out and a hospital guard who looked like Rosey Greer escorted her to and from her car.
During the fight, (Alvarez-Marmolejo) stabbed a bystander that was trying to break up the assault
I dont think the reporter knows what “bystander” means. Dont be that kind of bystander!
It’s Seedy. You don’t really get panhandled on that part of State Street any more, you get accosted.
