CHICAGO (AP) â After Donald Trumpâs historic guilty verdict, a steady flow of images showing upside-down American flags has appeared on social media as his supporters and right-wing commentators protest his felony conviction.
At least one such flag was spotted Friday outside Trump Tower in New York City as the Republican former president spoke about the trial. Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, the former presidentâs daughter-in-law, and Donald Trump Jr., his eldest son, have been sharing images of inverted flags online, as did Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a longtime ally.
The upside-down American flag gained wide attention recently after revelations that it was flown outside the Alexandria, Virginia, home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters seeking to halt the certification of the 2020 presidential election results. A flag like that was carried by the rioters while they echoed Trumpâs false claims of election fraud.
Right-wing pundits and podcast hosts with hundreds of thousands of followers, as well as regular Americans, rallied around the inverted flag in the hours after Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts in his New York hush money trial on Thursday. Among them were Fox News Channel contributors Guy Benson and Katie Pavlich, conservative talk show hosts Graham Allen and Owen Shroyer, and far-right conspiracy theorist and âStop the Stealâ rally organizer Ali Alexander.

I donât know the cause of this fire or the stats on how common these food supply related fires have been over the past decades. But I do know a lot of these fires happen because of the grains stored at these food processing facilities. Stored grains can become extremely flammable under the right conditions and it is my understanding that grain fires are not an uncommon occurrence. Store that grain next to other flammable objects and you can get really big fires.
Regardless of the cause it shows that it is a good idea to not place all your eggs in one basket;) People shouldnât count on the grocery stores always having what they need when they need it. The consolidation of our food supply system into these mega producers might make our food supply system more profitable for the big companies but it makes it far more susceptible to supply chain interruptions when one of the few big suppliers has a problem.

I think we will definitely come to regret the loss of most of the smaller scale family farmers in the not too distant future. Efficiency is good but monopolies are usually not so good unless you are one of the very few controlling them. And even then they eventually tend to collapse under their own weight at some point down the road.
Though I think the land of plenty days were already starting to come to an end at some point in the 1990s.

And foreign entities own a majority of them now. Our national security has been compromised/abandoned in so many ways by Washington, dems & repubs alike. No accountability for their actions, for decades upon decades. A reckoning is long overdue.
