I highly doubt anyone goes out to a protest wanting to be a victim, furthermore they should not be victims. Our military has a higher rules for engagement on foreign soil than ICE and the USBP has on American soil. If our military is able to keep the peace on foreign soil without resorting to violence then ICE and the USBP should be able to do the same on US soil. But it also exposes the problem with ICE and the USBP, our military is highly trained and held accountable. ICE and USBP not so much.

Yes we have more rights so infringing upon them should be the warning sign for every American. Although I am currently complaining about this administration my biggest fear is when the next Democratic Administration takes over. Right now we are watching as Republicans work to consolidate power to the Executive Branch, which currently works in their favor however if they lose power all those powers go into the hands of a Democrat.
Right now the United States has crossed the Rubicon and there is absolutely no turning back. The consolidation of power that has been handed to Trump will destroy this country. Republicans have little choice but to end fair elections in the United States because if they lose, the alternative is Democrats will have at their disposal all the powers that Trump and the Republicans have given to the Presidency.
We saw what happened after Democrats took office after Bush Jr. They were all about stomping their feet and pretending that they cared about the Federal Government infringing on our rights to privacy, but as soon as they held that power, they used it against their foes. This is exactly what will happen again when they take office, they will utilize the powers granted to the President to push their agenda through without care. But that will only happen if they can win an election which is what Republicans need to prevent from happening by changing the rules of our elections.

I think the democrats are going to become republicans and republicans are going to be democrats. To tell the truth I can’t tell the difference. What concerns me more is optimism and pessimism.
Continued peaceful protests, activism at election time, or FAFO. Isn’t it interesting that you think something justifies physically rioting (oh wait) mostly peacefully protesting) with Legal Law Enforcement Operations?

The people in Minneapolis are seeing behavior by government agents that they strongly feel is unacceptable, even unconstitutional, enough so that tens of thousands of them have been motivated to take action. They have been protesting and utilizing elections but with little to show. My question was if those activities don’t stop the behavior they view as the problem, what is their next recourse? If the Colonists had stuck strictly to peaceful protest and elections we’d still be under British rule. The founding principal of the right to bear arms was to counter a rogue government. If peaceful protest is the only option deemed acceptable, what role are those arms supposed to play in protecting our rights?

This thread has been a spirited debate about what constitutes a threat to our rights and liberties, and what appropriate responses might be, with strong and varied thoughts and opinions. Disregard them if you like, but shouting down a point of view you don’t like does not invalidate it or make it go away.
I would suggest that he was saying that about the protestors. Don’t get what they want so they go to 11 as step 1.

And there you have the nugget of truth that is the real crux of the issue. When you decide after decades of ICE enforcement operations that federal law enforcement is suddenly the bad guy because they work under Trump, you lose all credibility. The left was absolutely SILENT when 4 million illegals were removed under the Obama administration. Let’s face it, regaining & maintaining power is what the issue is really about.

The day the “Left” starts to stand up for the victims killed by illegal aliens is the day I will take their protestations of Constitutional Issues seriously.
If the illegal aliens do not want have to deal with ICE and these allegedly problematic tactics they have several options.
- Leave the Country, by self deporting. There is even financial assistance.
- Stop ■■■■■■■ resisting when they get caught.
That solves all the issues the “Left” has. But that’s not what this is about. It’s about “POWER” period. No, they are screaming for ICE not to be there. They want the illegals to stay. You are overlooking the reality and want police to politely say, please do not resist or runaway. Please just let me detain and deport you.
Yeah, that will work just as well as that would with the criminals police deal with daily. Reality does not work that way. People that do not want to be deported and those that don’t want to go to prison, will fight the police far more often than not. Just talk to any police officer to learn the truth. I have known many officers in my lifetime, several were friends when I was younger - I now live in a different state. I also have an in-law that is a retired officer - due to all the injuries he suffered in the line of duty while arresting those polite people that were just misunderstood. He has had 3 vertebra in his neck fused, and many other issues and chronic pain from those injuries. You speak of something you have no knowledge or understanding of.
