Ammon Bundy's Thoughts

They can leave however they want. Peacefully or by force. I think the protesters don’t want them to leave at all.

I do. I use a diverse variety of sources for news, and am fairly discerning with what I consider credible sources. What I have seen with my own eyes and read truly troubles me. If only a fraction of what I’ve seen is genuine, it is not how I want my government to be enforcing the law. It’s serious enough to have motivated tens of thousands of people to alter their lifestyles and engage in sustained protest for weeks, even months. It’s not easy to get that many people to do anything like that without sufficient cause.

I think your missing the nuance in protesters issue. They are not objecting to ICE enforcing the law, it’s how. Illegal immigrants have been detained and deported for years, under multiple administrations with little objection. The actions they are taking now are often well outside of standard LEO procedure. This is according other police and law enforcement personnel, not me.

Well yeah, Trump is the first one to start getting something done. Am I the only one who thinks we’ve entered a new era in American history.

Are you aware that Obama deported 5.3 million immigrants in his 2 terms, and Donald Trump only deported just over 2 million in his first term, per reporting in Newsweek?

I didnt know that. Is it true. Nothing shocks me. Thanks for sharing. I thought we were deporting illegal immigrants.

My mistake. Yes, they were illegal immigrants that Obama and Trump deported.

Have you ever been arrested? I Have. I have had police long guns in my face held by guys in masks. I’ve been body slammed in the wet, oily, muddy gutters with 3 guys kneeling on my neck and back, I’ve been dragged out of the window of cars, only to be let go because there was only the suspicion of a crime. So if roughing up the the offenders has you selectively concerned I suggest you go see what happens everyday to Americans all across this nation.

However Mike that should never have happened to you, it’s ridiculous that you a law abiding citizen are treated this way by those who we pay to protect us. I have no issue with officers doing their jobs, I do have issues if they are infringing on our rights while doing it. I have only had one instance in my life when I have had an officer point a firearm at me and then order me to drop what I had in my hands, lay upon the ground with my hands out in front of me and they then had me place them behind my back so they could hand cuff me. I was never assaulted in this process, and I did not argue or play stupid. I was 15 getting off work at my friends family restaurant which I stayed late to do a deep clean on the kitchen. Officers saw me exiting the restaurant at 2 AM with a large bag, which was full of food that I was allowed to take home instead of throwing out. Officers called the owner while I sat cuffed in front of the restaurant who confirmed I was allowed to be there and that I was allowed to take the bag of food at which point I was released.

I have been arrested but my experience was completely different than yours. What happened to you is not how law enforcement in this country is supposed to work and should never have happened to you. The cop who arrested me was calm, patient and reasonable even though he knew I was lying to him. My fear in all this is that the way ICE is conducting enforcement will become common, and more Americans, not just illegal immigrants, will experience unjustifiably violent experiences like yours. My concerns extend to everyone.

I think we all have those concerns. I also have concerns that LE will experience unjust violence. What can we do about it? What don’t you want to become common.

I don’t want to surrender my rights because an officer feels they may experience unjust violence. Furthermore if I experience unjust violence even once at the hands of an officer, the next time I may decide it would just be easier to have my day in court if I am still alive.

No one wants to experience unjust violence. That makes one a victim. The thing is if we respond as if we are a victim and we want to make someone else a victim we will all be victims. If one considers them self a survivor we will all be survivors. and everything will be all better.

Here is the thing, I will be willing to be the victim one time, after that I will have learned my lesson and will opt to not be the victim again. I 100% believe I should only protect myself against criminals, and if LE is acting like criminals then I have no choice.

In my deep dark past. The reaction of the police was probably based on location, Time of night and the way we were acting. But still, in the end, no laws were being broken. We were “those Guys” that were know to do “Those things in that area…”, and the police reacted to us like we were them.

Doesn’t make it right, it’s stories like yours that I hate to hear the most because it’s unacceptable. And one of the reasons I do believe we need reform with local LE, citizens who have committed no crime should never leave an interaction with LE feeling like they were treated like a criminal. These experiences should feel like an inconvenience at most but leave the citizen feeling like they are safe and the security of the population was what the officer had in mind when they initiated the interaction.

The kinder gentler police force is what we would all love,… but that’s NOT the world they live in.

should they rip you out of your car because you’re sitting at an intersection and tapped your your cigarette ash out the window? No.

Should they just stand by and watch passively as a girl gets raped or stabbed to death on a train? Again, No.

Do you in your self defense need to wait until an armed attacker has stabbed or shot you before you can draw your gun and fight back?

So, why should the cops NOT use force to subdue a suspect who very well could be violent?

Do they have to wait until they’re already dead before they can use force?

Funny enough my mother worked in Mental Healthcare in Phoenix AZ for 45 years and police would regularly use her to deescalate situations like you are describing. Although she was never involved in a situation where weapons were involved she regularly delt with naked people and fecal material. She is a 5’6” Jewish woman who never put up with BS and never witnessed a person experiencing a mental health breakdown be killed by police. Police are not trained in deescalating mental health situations which is why when they arrive a lot of times it ends up with someone going home in a body bag instead of getting the help they need.

Ok I get it. As long as you are not trying to be a victim. Like the illegal immigrant protesters. I mean the people protesting against ICE.
