As I’m sitting here at work having my lunch and poking around this board, a colleague came in and told me there’s an active shooter st FSU. His daughter is there right now.
Florida has decent gun laws overall, but once again we apparently have someone shooting in a “gun free zone.” This BS of disarming college students needs to stop.
Randy Fine has again introduced legislation to legalize carry on campus, but again the dems and some RINOS are working to kill it. What’s wrong with these people??
While I can see where the opposition (at least those who apply logic & reasoning to their opposition)is coming from, I do not agree with them. In my opinion, if you meet the requirements to carry, you should be able to. Many students live on-campus, and the remainder spend most of their time there while enrolled, disallowing them from protecting themselves is not the answer.
He’s talked to her. She was going into the student union when the shooting started. When he spoke with her on the phone he could hear the mayhem and sirens in the background. She’s safe.
Yeah, for the longest time there was little to no updates: Just that there was/is an active shooter incident at the Student Union (building) on the Tallahassee campus of FSU, and that they were on lockdown, sheltering in place, and vacating people to go home where safe to do so.
There was an out pouring of first responder agencies, mostly police, of multiple jurisdictions marked, and unmarked as seen entering the campus from an outer perimeter intersection At Tennessee Avenue.
It was not until much a later update that they mentioned six wounded by gun shot, no fatalities as yet, and one in custody without any further details.
So, nothing of substance about the shooter at that point, like what if any association with the campus, or not.
Indeed.
The reports are a bit scattered and inconsistent. Whatever the actual numbers (fatalities, injured, shooters) end up being, I hope that they are as low as possible.
My thoughts are with the families, friends and acquaintances of anyone involved.
When I went to college the first time. I lived in Campus as it was the cheapest option for me. I stayed keyed up so much, all of the time. Just about a permanent existence in Orange level. Had a couple of kids, who didn’t go to the University, pull a gun on me. I, vividly, remember how hopeless I felt at that moment. I never wanted to feel that way again. Prayers to the families of all who are affected by this.
Exactly, no guns other than law enforcement on campus most everywhere.
Does not give one much for opinions that can reach an individual without self exposure to being shot trying to reach them, maybe with a fire extinguisher to hit them with.
Most viable option is 911, waiting for the cavalry to arrive.
A lot of victims can be stacked up in that time lag, even just a few minutes.
Yep, the classic adage that when seconds count, the police are minutes away. I abhor seeing people left defenseless and then being hurt. There’s no excuse for it.
These kids have been brain washed for so long they really believe it. More Regulations form this Government or that Company will fix everything? I sure hope, eventually, someone get’s a hold of these kids (in general) and explains what the real problem is.
From the Article:
“She described the situation as “unacceptable” and urged for more policies to be put in place to prevent such violence.”
“Like, no one should just think that they’re going to school in a normal day, then … their lives are in danger because there are not enough regulations in place.”
"He said it was “insane” to him that guns are so easily accessed in the U.S. when other countries make it much more difficult to possess guns.
“This is the only country where this regularly happens,” Ontari said. “And every time it happens, we hear there’s nothing that can be done about it.”"
