From the first news report, it seems this 20 year old became unstable for some reason.
My point is, it’s the persons fault, not any other item.
Thanks for the link, William!
We’re also discussing this tragic event here:
GFZs are what they are, and they suck for that.
Cops also don’t necessarily know what they are rolling up on until the first one is shot.
Casualties: 2 dead, 6 wounded.
Shooter in custody was a 20 year old student at FSU, used his mother’s service weapon, an 18 year veteran deputy sheriff.
Permit required, but I liked seeing this go through in typical Mountaineer fashion.
We who are possessed of logic, and common sense are cursed to have to deal with those lacking that.
I fail to understand their stinking selfish thinking that they can cause tragedies involving innocent people.
It’s one thing to have personal responsibility, and self determination involving your own life decisions, like giving up, or quitting any kind of relationship with an employer, school, family member, lover, whatever, whoever.
At times life, or some aspects of it may seem overwhelming, or overbearing, and you want to quiet it.
But, that should not entitle you to involve ruining other people’s lives in your disengagement from whatever has irked you into “going ballistic.”
It seems all too frequently that someone has decided their life is no longer worth living, but that does not entitle them to devalue other lives to the point of taking them too.
Not to make a statement, steal a fleeting moment of fame to be soon forgotten, as worth another person’s life.
Or, just to goad law enforcement into facilitating “your suicide by cop” to stop you from killing innocents as the legacy of your choice the end your own life.
Why unnecessarily, and selfishly ruin innocent others’ lives, the ones you take, and those they leave behind don’t deserve that callousness.
To be dispensed to hell for all eternity?
Can you not think of a better epithet?
All in all, your long version is what my first sentence expressed.
I do like your version though.
I would do well to do a Hemingway edit, and cut the wordiness.
I like your version also. Write to the point.
There may be big differences between K-12 and colleges, all the state’s varied restrictions to each and even a federal regulation especially K-12.
From what I could gather on one reading was that there were no exceptions other than law enforcement.
Schools were strict GFZs regardless of permits.
That may vary widely depending on jurisdictions.
They went to far as to include perimeter extension zones for roads and sidewalks adjacent to property lines and beyond to keep would be shooter at a safer distance from the actual school property itself, and to pay particular attention to signage around the school’s perimeter beyond their fence line. Not unlike at prisons.
Now im getting curious. Everybody (news outlets) pretty much stopped talking about the 20YO murderer. Im sure by now the LEO’s know all about him but crickets…
Grant it, they cant say to much due to pending case but still.
Seems to happen alot nowadays.
04/19/2025 Fox News Tampa Bay, Florida.
Statements were made about the 20 year olds childhood history. He did have some mentality deficient points and his birth mother filed to court about them and the father and stepmother were not helping the son correctly for years before this tragedy happened.
I’m sure more will slowly come out about the 20 year old.
Also, the gun grabbers already are using this tragedy to try and strengthen Florida’s RED FLAG position.
Thanks william.
Weird that a sheriff would ignore a mental health issue considering she deals with it all the time but some folks are different
I dont agree with red flag laws. Pretty sad wnen you have to make a law to protect someone when it should be 2nd nature if you care about the individual.
Maybe they should spend more time working on the mental health issues than more laws.
