A New BREAK FREE Product?

I just got a 4 oz. bottle of their “COLLECTOR Long-Term Protectant”. I’m going to break out my trusty, rusty can of acetone, and try this sparingly on the few knives I have with carbon blades. It’s supposed to have an advanced, 5-year storage protection formula that won’t break down into a waxy residue. it ain’t cheap, at $16-and-change. FYI

Their suppressor cleaner is amazing. Get back to us in 5 years with your results, and I’m betting it’ll be good.

Wait, nevermind. The suppressor cleaner is Breakthrough, and it’s far from free. Still interested in the results. I had some rust develop on a couple Damascus blades and that was not a good thing..

In 5 years, my physical orientation will have permanently transformed into a horizontal state -I’ll be exploring the “Undiscovered Country”, or just slide into Oblivion.

For your Damascus blades, try acetone and some 0000 steel wool. I recall a famous knifemaker - Harvey Draper (?) - once said that if O-1 was treated right, it was just as good as any Damascus steel. FYI

I used some Ballistol and steel wool which got most of the pattern back and rust gone, but will give the acetone a try.

Yeah, no one gets out of here alive. After my son died, my wife asked me to outlive her. I’m grateful for what I’ve seen in some of my dreams, and it has deeply affected me in regards to God and the afterlife.
