2024 election: whatcha gonna do based on results?

I think that everyone would love for this to be over, and with so many strange things in the news, I’m not sure it’ll be decided Tuesday night. Regardless…

Someone (team) will win the big seats, and there will be changes in the House and Senate.

How do you think it’ll go for each? And knowing that the big seats can have small or large effects, what will you do if it goes a different way?

And of course, please vote if you haven’t already, and check online that they got your vote. If not, report it.

I’ll let the left go to Canada. If it gets really bd, I’m thinking Poland here I come. Poland shots invaders as they cross the border.

Knowing that neither can just run off and do what they want on day one, I think that all of the threats of terrible things either way won’t come true, but there will be changes.

I have tried to have conversations in person and online with folks on team blue (close to me and unknown to me) and admit that I’m surprised how many patently false things that they believe from media snippets. Strange times indeed. I miss being able to have a conversation with someone.

I think if Harris wins, not much will change. There will be things around the edges, but without congress behind her, she will be limited in what she can do. If Trump wins, there will be drastic changes. He has said he is going to replace all top and mid level staff in the executive branch, FBI, military with his people, so he will be surrounded by yes-men. Without an independent law enforcement branch, the country will fall apart.

Wow. You really think that? Everything I’ve heard/read about Trump is that more than perhaps any politician, he asks what others think on nearly every topics. and the people he asks are from all walks of life, the opposite of yes-men.

I’m much more concerned about Harris (partly because things will stay the same, as I want my country back!) because she doesn’t seem to have a handle on much, and she’s clearly not making her own decision, so it’ll be more of the Obama/Clinton clan.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was worse when Trump was in for you? Nearly everything was better for us. We were on the cusp of building our dream home, but now we just carry the land, related taxes and HOA because the cost to build the house has almost precisely doubled. With her in charge, I don’t think that either of us will ever be able to retire, especially with the taxes she’s promising.

I’m genuinely curious. Why?

Many/most of my circle are blue. Almost without exception, all I get are slogan, “I don’t want to talk about that”, “How can you vote for him” and more like that. They’re okay as long as he isn’t in charge. I guess I don’t get it. I despise Harris, but if she were to better candidate, I’d vote for her. So, I’m curious if anyone can tell me the benefits of Harris or the reason that they hate Trump/red so much. Like many of you, I’m independent. I would love two good more centrist candidates to choose from, and to have our country not swing so much every few years. It is a waste of energy/resources and just divides us. It also requires the other side to swing even further. The result is obvious and we’re starting to see it now.

Are you guys buying/selling arms/ammo? Planning to depending on the result? I planned to sell a few but decided to hold off until after the election.

Divides us? It takes 2 to tango. The right has repeatedly been called vile names for the last 20 years or so. Why would we consider partnering with the liberals when the left has already demonstrated contempt.

I’m done. At this point I don’t care if we burn this bitch down. I’ll be just fine if the top 30 cities are destroyed.

@JimL may I ask you a question?

Would you please give me your BEST pitch for Kamala Harris to be the President of the United States for the next four years? My only stipulation is that your pitch cannot reference any other candidate. I don’t want to hear why she’s better than this one or not as bad as that one. I want to be educated on the objective reasons she would make a good President in today’s world, both domestically and globally. Tell me about her past actions and policies, as an elected official, which have resulted in the U.S. becoming more just, more fair, more prosperous, more respected, safer, stringer, and/or a better place to live. Just that. I have a pretty fair grasp on the rest of the candidates; tell me why SHE is a good choice for the Oval Office.

Thanks in advance.

Safe to say that this is unlikely to happen.

I think that losing sight of things that Americans agree on while accepting there are variances is a mistake. One guys $.02. Why? Because it allows us to be manipulated by the parties/gov’t in general…and we are. To me, it is like single topic voting, which we’re also seeing. I get it, but I don’t like it. It is hard to be friends with people who vote on abortion (either way) while sacrificing the country as a whole to do it. There’s a lot that I would be giving up with either candidate (any candidate) but I won’t give up the 1st/2nd to get the other thing that I want. In my pea sized brain, if only candidates that uphold one and two were allowed to run for any office, it would make things easier regarding the other topics, as all Americans would never be bargaining away those two things.

I’ve looked for, and asked for others to help me find Colions graphic about what would happen if we got rid of crime in the top 1-5 major cities…and 'merica would be nearly the safest place in the world (aside from the recent influx from open borders) but I can’t find it. I wish that I could. Top 30 may be to much, but I get your point. I think that we’re pretty far off track. These wars aren’t helping…and that may be #4 on my list…keep us out of wars.

Also…

Yes, I understand that the question I posed weeks ago (re-linked above) was a loaded one.

Not a single person, anywhere, voted for Harris during the primary election, neither in this cycle nor the previous when she was an actual candidate. This was intentional and meant to demonstrate that A) democrats are unable to fulfill this request, and B) the hypocrisy of the left (“Trump is a threat to democracy” et al) is unmatched and unrivaled by just about any other group.

Even with that, I hoped to get any answer that attempted to provide “reasons for Harris”.

sadly IMHO the differences are too far apart…

to them we are basically pond scum…

they’re doing their best to dehumanize us…

so if they have to put us in camps or shoot us few on the left will object…

witness what was done in some blue states during all the riots (black lives matter)

It wasn’t Republicans that tried to assassinate a candidate, just say’n.

I get all of the silliness, including no votes for Harris, but still…if Trump wins, what do you plan to do? If Harris wins?

If trump wins, I like to think that I will be able to afford the house we planned for so many years. I’ve even started working on the design again. I’ll likely sell the firearms i’m never going to use. I don’t think he can get SS untaxed, but I’d love that.

If Harris gets in, I’m not selling any firearms. I’m going to get off of terrible forums and boards for fear that they will be tools to harm those who disagree. I’m also not sure I would want to stay living in Charlotte. It has gone far downhill since the current crew took over. Also, with the real threat of a war on our soil, I’ll likely move somewhere more rural. i’m too old to deal with any of that!

Not a dam thing. Im gonna carry on with my life because im not infatuated with political people.

So quit making a fetish out of following a politician like they have some god status.

Spolier alert: they dont. They’re people with a job we gave them, and none of them are doing it right. Everyone needs to come back to reality and quit the effing fetish.

What? Do you have something of value to contribute? You seem new here…and 13 years old. This is one of the last places on the Internet to have honest discussion. Don’t try to turn it into Fbook. (Speaking of which, I tried to have my first (and last) conversation on Fbook yesterday. People really are sheeple, regardless of affiliation.)

Seriously, I can’t think of anything where I agree with the liberals. At this point there is no foundation to build upon.

President Reagan once gave a speech on why a conservative cannot compromise on issues. Abortion? You’re against it, or you lose your principles. Fiscal conservation? Any compromise labels you otherwise. Basically, if a conservative compromises on any issue, they are no longer a conservative.
