I am wondering what will happen the day after…
It occurs to me that this question has come up throughout history a few times when something big was going to happen on a certain date and the world was supposed to end the following day, or worldwide famine, or worldwide this or worldwide that just because something happened on THAT DAY.
Think back to when the U.S. was testing out the first atomic bombs at Alamogordo. Many experts claimed the resulting fire ball would ignite the atmosphere and there would be no more air to breath, burn off the Ozone layer and the sun would cook the Earth, hurl us into a modern Ice Age and all life would freeze, and on, and on, and on…
Alamogordo, Bikini, Hiroshima, Nagasaki…Those were the big ones everyone remembers. Other than the fact those areas still have radioactive material laying around, people are dying of numerous cancer type ailments and children are born with three eyes, nothing happened.
I may be exaggerating with the third eye thing.
Fast forward a few years and we are faced with the Y2K scare. At midnight, December 31, 1999, all manner of chaos was going to break loose because the computers were not going to reset or some BS like that. The banks would freeze all accounts, the stock market worldwide would crash, gas prices would skyrocket, and on, and on, and on…
Other than a few minor glitches with older systems, nothing happened here either.
Fast forward a few more years and Barrack Obama wins the vote and becomes the first Black man (Half Black?) to become President of the United States of America. There were conspiracy theorists saying he was the Anti-Christ, he will destroy our country, we will all be in the poverty line before the next election, and on, and on, and on…
Our options during that election were severely limited and I feel the lesser of the two evils prevailed in that election.
Some things in the U.S were shaken up, Obama Care was introduced, half the U.S. voters felt butthurt, the other half celebrated, but nothing happened.
When I say “nothing happened” it is in reference to the world coming to an end as many experts, conspiracy theorists and regular folks all said would happen when these specific dates in history were reached. We, as citizens of the United States, persevered. We kept going. Times got tough; we got tougher. Times got easy; we got soft. Times got tough again, we toughened up again. We did not stop living. The sky did not burn. Our Ozone is still intact (sort of) and the world seems to be getting warmer for a moment instead of freezing.
By the way, stop using plastics to manufacture everything in the world so greenhouse gasses don’t build up and increase the temperature and melt the polar Ice Caps. Horse Hockey.
We will continue every day just like we have done for the last bazillion years here on Planet Dirt. We will find food to eat. We will find things to build shelter. We will be able to build fire to keep warm and cook our food.
We will persevere.
Now, for the other side of the coin…
Nineteen Eighty-Four (also published as 1984) is a dystopian novel and cautionary tale by English writer Eric Arthur Blair, who wrote under the pen name George Orwell. It was published on 8 June 1949 by Secker & Warburg as Orwell’s ninth and final book completed in his lifetime. Thematically, it centers on the consequences of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and repressive regimentation of people and behaviors within society. Orwell, a staunch believer in democratic socialism and member of the anti-Stalinist Left, modelled the Britain under authoritarian socialism in the novel on the Soviet Union in the era of Stalinism and on the very similar practices of both censorship and propaganda in Nazi Germany. More broadly, the novel examines the role of truth and facts within societies and the ways in which they can be manipulated.
Does any of this sound familiar?
We are currently living in a world where the truth no longer matters. It can be perverted into meaning whatever the author of said truth wants it to be. Science no longer matters either. A biological male, scientifically proven to be male, can claim he/she/it is a female and all of a sudden, he/she/it is capable of birthing a child. Perfect example of truth and science no longer being a consideration for actual events.
Don’t get me wrong…If a man wants to claim he is a woman and dress in woman’s clothing and fornicate with other men, more power to him…er…HER, just as long as he/she/it doesn’t include me in the delusion. I am only interested in biological women with natural boobs and that little slice of heaven between their legs. All the Natural Ladies on the forum who may be reading this have my profuse apology in regard to my previous description of the female anatomy.
We are also living in a world full of electronic eavesdropping. How many times has any of you been talking to someone else about something, then all of a sudden you start getting ads on your smart phone related to the conversation you had? Our Smart phones, Smart TV’s and our laptops all listen to us. Alexa listens to us and makes her own decisions. Bixby, the Android version of Alexa, does the same thing. Now we have real, honest and true Artificial Intelligence (AI) being rolled out as the next big step in our evolution. I have one word for you on that subject…

No matter where the votes fall two weeks from now, I will continue doing the same thing I do every day. I will survive the best way I can. I recommend everyone do the same. I will not be posting any comments to any thread until after the election.
Keep your weapons handy and your powder dry and I will see everyone in a couple weeks.
McCain was no great option, but Obama, Big Mike and Biden really accelerated American decline by every measure.
