Resurrecting a long dead thread, but this concern cropped up in my head again.
Simply put, I live in Texas, and in Texas we have the 30.06 and 30.07 signs. These are provisions to the Texas Penal code title 7, chapter 30.
- Section 30.06 addresses Trespass by a License Holder with a Concealed Handgun.
- Section 30.07 addresses Trespass by a License Holder with an Openly Carried Handgun.
These sections outline the legal requirements for signage and the consequences for carrying a handgun in prohibited areas. If you see a big sign posted with those sections quoted, then you’re not supposed to carry there.
Case in point, I recently visit a Legoland and Sea Life aquarium in Arlington, TX. According to Texas penal code, I’m not supposed to carry concealed in there.
IF A DEFENSIVE SHOOTING OCCURED, and I was forced to draw and fire, would USCCA trigger my coverage despite me carrying where I wasn’t supposed to?
It is not a federally banned place to carry, just a Texas state law, which looks like it relates to tresspass.

The answer is “yes” … You can still be charged with a “carry in a gun free zone” but.
