Will the election be affected?

True, just look at OANN, and the ones they have on there…

But… in most cases it requires parental involvement with the children to guide them… otherwise, it is left to chance and far too often, the sweet words of the left sway their minds while the truth and effort required may be too much for them.

Congratulations @Dawn, but… we will not ask their ages…

I don’t believe the buying panic will impact the vote to a large degree. It is however our job as responsible gun owners to attempt to shift that with positive interaction. Whether it is in a gun/sporting goods store, at the range or just in conversation. New shooters usually respond positively to the education. How important their vote is should be a talking point in any new firearm training IMO.

The way things operate nowadays, you sure can…

In that same spirit one cops deadly mistake, placed a hefty price on our ENTIRE law and order infrastructure. Now there is a price on every head. That’s a heck a of a minority creating an unimaginable amount of nation wide destruction!
I’m not talking about a Gucci store, I’m speaking about our way of life!
So I’ll rephrase, most millennial brains!
If there’s one thing we can agree upon, is I’m incorrigible!

We need to vote for candidates that will re-establish an impartial system of law and order. Not provoke violence in the streets to push their agenda like Kamala Harris is doing. Joe Biden refuses to even acknowledge AntiFa and the threat they pose to our internal stability. Our country is facing serious external threats. I hope that new gun owners will look past their own personal safety to back a candidate that is willing to stand up to countries like China, Iran, Russia and North Korea. While under continuous personal attack from members of Congress, President Trump has been doing just that. Mr. Biden has done much to curry the favor of our most aggressive adversary, China. Trying to pay off Iran was a total disaster. The Biden family has sold out our country. When a liberal news agency like the NY Post is willing report on that, why are these facts being ignored? I hope new gunowners are undergoing a reality check. They did take a solid step in accepting responsibility for the defense of themselves and their families. I hope that extends to the defense of our country.

Which one was that?

If you mean George Floyd and Officer Chauvin, Floyd was resisting arrest, had a violent history and had Fentanyl in his system that caused him to have breathing difficulty, BEFORE he was ever on the ground.

The video made the officer look bad, but the body cam video showed far more.

The actions of those who play politics (Keith Ellison… ) who had the body cam video and tried to prevent it being released… could have helped prevent or decrease the violence… by allowing the truth to come out… although many on the left refuse to deal with the truth.

I agree completely. Cannot do that. That is uncalled for

Very true. Since the original post was about new gun owners, I was looking from that point of view.

Humm, I didn’t vote as I don’t think any of those answers would be … most right… so to speak.

For: It won’t affect how they vote: I think the majority of the 26m gun sales were to conservatives who didn’t have a firearm but were already pro 2a folks. So, they would already be voting for trump.

It will affect only how they vote for their state rep. So their local state rep, or their US House State Rep? I just really can’t think how this would matter…?.?

… will only affect their vote for POTUS, I don’t think so either. Liberals/socialists don’t buy guns and they won’t vote for a Constitutionalist.

It will completely affect how they vote… exact same answer as #1, they will still completely vote for trump.

With all of this said. If the question were along the line of how many liberals/socialists, are “done” with the “peaceful protests” and decided to defend them selves with their first firearm. I still think this is small minority of 1st time gun buyers, and an even smaller percentage of this small percentage will NOT vote for Biden. When given the choice, they will always vote to live in the gilded cage.

Sadly, I think the vast majority of voters, even the ones who recently purchased arms, have the “It could never happen here” mentality. I fear most of them have the mindset that once the election passes, the problems will go away. To them, a firearm is just an insurance policy until it all settles back down.

History teaches us otherwise. Tyranny that seeps in upon us gradually is still tyranny, perhaps the worst kind.

Unfortunately once some people have a firearm, they think they will never need another. Will it affect the way they vote? Some it will, but unfortunately many others it won’t. When (or if) the violence and fear subsides the firearms will be hidden away in shame of the way they where thinking during a time of crisis. I do however pray that I am wrong.

If so, then why the run on guns and ammo?

@OldGnome. Take this with a grain of salt, since most of my circle are decidedly pro 2-A, but the run on guns and ammo that I see are mostly from people who already have plenty of both, such as myself. I just don’t think there’s a groundswell of liberal voters who have suddenly “seen the light,” embraced the 2-A, and decided to switch sides and battle tyranny. I think for the most part, they’re impulse purchases.

That’s possible, but I’m thinking about Nearly 5 Million New, First-Time Gun Owners in 2020 :: Guns.com.

I think that many of the new gun owners are believing in things that that might have argued against 12 months earlier.

I sure hope so!

There are definitely many new gun owners. People vote Dem for a host of reasons that don’t have anything to do with 2A. And unfortunately, with the way our 2-party political system is, you get everything in the Dem bucket or everything in the Rep bucket. Asking a previous Democratic voter who may have pro-choice or healthcare high on their priority list to now hold their nose and check the box next to “Republican” is a big ask.

I tend to think thats a small number that will convert.

Especially since anti-gun candidates will continue to hold to “you can have guns, we just want to add common sense laws”

I would agree that a fair number are probably impulse purchases - however with how hard it is to find a gun right now - people seriously have to look for them to purchase.

And I know a fair number of people who are buying are also getting trained. We’ve doubled our private instructor group at the range where I also work and we’re all swamped!

But there are a lot of people who are buying and will be putting the gun, unloaded under their bed or in their nightstand and leaving it there feeling more secure for having it.

When this all calms down (I refuse to say if this all calms down), there will be a lot of “used” guns on the market that have never been taken out of the box. I know a fair number of people who will take advantage of those deals
