I hope they will get easier to purchase? I’ve been waiting for 6 months to get my 2nd one!
1st one almost 11 months, my 2nd almost 6 months but, its on its way to me now.
Purchased my first one last year and I believe it was only around 6 weeks from order to arrival, I used Silencer Central, a very easy process and it came directly to my house!
same thing here, I have no idea why it took so long. ![]()
All restrictions on suppressors should be eliminated. They are hearing protection devices. The db levels of just about any ammo is between 150db to greater than 160db. A device that lowers this to 120db to 130db hardly makes it quiet, but it does make it substantially less damaging with repeated exposure, especially when also using hearing protection. There is only one reason for the restrictions, money!
I certainly hope so, suppressors should be treated no differently than ear and eye pros. Ordered my 1st one back in August 2024 through Capitol Armory, delivered to my door late Feb… Could have been worse, but would have much preferred a shorter wait time.
My first suppressor took almost 9 months a few years ago. The second was after eForms came online and took about 2 months. My most recent was approved in 3 days.
It took 13 months when I first got mine. The first only reason I got it was I ordered one of those solvent tank filters to clean my solvent when I was cleaning car parts, and I got a nasty letter about it being used as a silencer. I never considered it until then. I will but another one if I buy a 22 pistol.
Suppressors are easy to purchase (although sometimes supply does not appear to keep up with demand). It’s the Tax Stamp that slows everything down. However, what used to be a nominal 6 month delay has, in some instances, been as low as 14 days (although my most recent was a month). If they get them off the NFA list it will be a walk in-walk out experience. Write your legislators.
True. Suppressors were banned as part of the restrictions introduced during Prohibition. The “big brains” in DC thought that that would help battle organized crime that greatly expanded when the 18th Amendment banned alcohol. But even tho’ the ban on alcohol was lifted, our government kept the Prohibition-era NFA restrictions, Why? 'cause government never shrinks or eliminates freedom restricting laws.
Prohibition – the gift that keeps on giving.
Prohibition
Which is how it should be! Yes, write or call your legislators!
My experience with 3 suppressors have been close to their published times when doing eForm, give or take a week.
11 months for 1st, 4 months for 2nd, and 3 weeks for 3rd.
We shall find out. Purchased Wednesday Feb 4th through Capitol Armory, email received this morning my form is ready to “certify”.
2.6.2026: Certify process: less than a minute after a 30 minute wait and multiple calls to “get into their queue”.
2.6.2026: eForm submitted (Trust)
3.4.2026: Approval notification came in.
Not bad. Just shy of 30 days for this one. My first took about 6 months.
ok because I really don’t know, why have it in a trust vs other forms(if any)?
For me it was to add simplicity for inheritance purposes. The trust I have / use makes it easy to add / remove family without having to resubmit forms to the ATF for re-approval.
If something were to happen to me, god forbid, those on the trust do not have to resubmit to ATF to take claim of the items in the trust, such as SBRs, suppressors, etc.
I did my recent.50 cal can as individual, only took 19 days!
It is my 3rd can, the first two took 14 weeks to be approved.
That’s fantastic timing. I crack a smile any time I think of the suppressed 50cal. What’s the decibel reduction, is it safe without hearing protection? I’d imagine not but never shot one, no idea what to expect.
Either way it’s cool as F! ![]()
