I get that part, in the sense that the instructor doesn’t want to get in the way of people trying to exercise their right to self defense.
It’s a privilege, I know, the way it’s designed in blue states.
My instructor though has a way of emphasizing further training, by assigning years in prison to every missed shot. Sobering, to say the least.
With the exception of line #3, I agree with your “rules”. Why would you want to criminalize non-training? Twenty-nine states have constitutional carry. The prisons would explode with the incoming population.
There are bona-fide CCW classes and there are WTF is going on classes. Initial CCW classes are generally good because they go over the legal aspects. But the renewal classes are questionable to say the least. I’ve never seen or heard of anyone failing the written test or the shooting test for that matter. I’d say tactical classes are the way to go. Unfortunately only the serious shooters attend these classes.
I never said that I wanted to criminalize non-training. What I said was this " I have no idea how to make firearm training mandatory" in response to someone else’s post. I have stated that people need training in some way whether it be family, friends, or instructors. And I have said that it could cost us all in the end if people don’t get some kind of training when it comes to firearms. I was talking about novices to firearms. People that were brand new, never fired one. The only time they had was at the CCW class. There is a lot of difference between knowing the laws and knowing firearms and I think you need to know how to shoot and be safe with a firearm before you stuff it in your pants and start running around. From what I have heard, a lot of CCW classes are different but I think they are required to teach the state laws and have a shooting segment. I really enjoyed the law part of it but there is no training on shooting a gun. There is a short segment that everyone fires a gun at a target five or seven yards away and that in no way shows they can handle a firearm. Tactical classes would be good but according to some that makes carrying unaffordable for many. Most people have never been in a shooting situation. If they take a CCW class and get their permit they are happy. But when you have bullets coming through your windshield or while you are at the park it’s it is a different story and even experienced people mess up sometimes. The more people that have no training at all, besides a law class, the more problems concealed carriers will have, in my mind anyway.
That is brandishing. It is also illegal as there was no threat of death nor great bodily harm - based on your statements. One is a misdemeanor, the other a felony, but you clearly did not know that then, and seemingly still do not after taking your CC training class. Again, you stated you never used a firearm at that age, except under supervision, which you clearly were not in that instance.
But, again, you clearly did not as you stated you never brandished or fired a firearm in self-defense, except as as a 6 or 7 year old child when you did not know the laws regarding self-defense and use of lethal force.
Which in most states, except Texas, it is illegal to use lethal force (firearms) in protection of property. Since you stated that, fear of life was not part of the incident.
Because you believe you are one of those that is “allowed” and will not lose that. My point being that when the state decides you are not allowed, you will assuredly be b-tching about it. I have met people like you, and have seen their reactions when their self-rightousness bites them in the a–. I have laughed when that happened because they deserved it as much as you do.
I don’t know where you get this allowed stuff at. If you want to look at it that way, he’s allowed to go get some training. But the question is will he.
I’m sorry but I do not understand. What is it I am “allowed” to do or say or whatever? What is this self-righteousness that you seem to think I have? What is it that I deserve? Show me where I called anyone ignorant. Spit it out. I’ll talk to you about it, or fight about it, or whatever.
LOL more illegal activity. You are, colloquially, a hoot. Yes, you clearly do not understand. That is your issue and why you believe as you do. I have clearly explained my points and you ignorantly choose not to understand. There is no way I know of on this forum to imbue the knowledge and understanding you need to see that your point of view is incongruous with reality.
