Ha! The Epoch Times as a legitimate source of factual news. You may not know that it is owned and operated by the Falun Gong, a Chinese religious organization that has been at odds with the Chinese government for a long time. Their newspaper usually contains some lurid tales related to its struggle with the Chinese Communist Party. I suspect that it wants Donald Trump in office as they believe he will be harder on China than Biden. Hence, its political bias is to downplay violence by the Trump thugs and criminals from Jan 6 to distract voters from the violence his supporters engaged in on January 6.
Here’s some more videos of these thugs assaulting police and breaking windows in the Capital and the political chaos they believed would keep their guy in office, but I doubt that it will convince you of anything.

The people who went to jail for Jan 6 were and are thugs and criminals who belong in jail. They are not people engaged in legitimate political discourse. They, and those who support them, represent a view that government/political discourse should be dominated by violence and mob rule.
So I watched all of the videos and other videos out there. There are certainly thing occurring that reach the level of being illegal, you can’t spray cops with bear spray etc. What I Don’t see is 400+ people breaking the law. A hand full for sure but to call everyone there, that protested, chanted and entered the Capitol Building criminal is ridiculous.

So, in all those cases, why were there not large numbers of acquittals, if only a “handful” of rioters were engaged in criminal activities, while the remainder were just sightseeing and chanting? Why would 60% of those charged plead guilty to criminal charges if they did nothing illegal? Maybe a dyed-in-the-wool conspiracy theorist might argue, these numbers and reports of trials are all fake news or the entire US judicial system, judges, juries, prosecutors, investigators, ganged up on these people and trumped up charged against them.
Totalitarian regimes regularly use political/mob violence to remain in power or ensure compliance with their social objectives. Last night I watched a program about the Cultural Revolution in China where Mao, about to be ousted, launched a people’s revolution to purge China of people he labeled as counter-revolutionaries. They were academics, writers, political leaders, etc many brought in dunce caps to show trials before mobs of people waving Mao’s “Little Red Book” and screaming at the accused. The videos reminded me of the Jan 6 event. The rioters could have easily been waving about Trump’s “The Art of the Deal” but instead were chanting “Hang Mike Pence.”
The danger of the historical revisionism of January 6 is that we start down the slippery path to using violence to settle political differences, which is the road to totalitarianism.
