RSO ? Don’t know what that even is , range officer or something I guess but I stay away from those silly places ( I M O ) I was just talking about taking my son shooting when he was a kid , he loved it and I loved it to and he learned how to field-strip most any type of gun maybe that’s why he’s a gunsmith now but it was the good ole days for sure.
And I mastered all and any gun decades ago IDC what it is all that this and that scenerio is 90% silly crap to me and a way to get your money. And just how many times do you actually think you’re gonna be getting the door of your for shooting and protection or whatever you called it.
If you haven’t mastered your EDC in the first hour of shooting it your listening to the wrong person. Not to mention after prolly three shots the cops will have their duty weapon on you lol. To many dreamers on these things, but hey you never know right? lol

Would certainly get the Thugs attention…

Had two friends who sounded exactly like you, that is until I challenged them to take the test for some force on force challenge in the simunition shoot house. Their experience was humbling to say the least.
They wore some of their bruises and welts around for the better part of a week😂

The training is as much to do about training the mind and body to work as one would the gun-work
So the OODA loop, trigger reset, auditory exclusion, getting off the “X”, shooting a flash sight picture, tunnel vision ect, is all part of it.

I think the idea of running through a defensive drill in front of a dozen or so classmates induces enough stress to make many fumble on their gun skills. Now heighten the level of stress to a life or death experience and watch unpracticed skills go out the window

I just think 99% of it is bull, dropping and slamming magazines and shooting around cars and all that doesn’t happen that much in the civilian world unless you walk around the streets of Chicago all night with a shiner Rolex on or something. Ain’t worth my time, sum people just have a knac for shooting and handling guns and some just don’t I guess.
And incidentally you will do it once and the next time if it happens you better have Massad Ayoob helping you out because a judge will not like all of your gun fighting you get into.
And if anything don’t look right I don’t have my glasses with me and can barley see what my finger is texting and it’s gettin fuzzier

You’re typing is just fine Mark.

I think you don’t see it happening in real life because majority of the population doesn’t know what to do. Hell most people have never been taught to hold a firearm correctly.
While I’m not licensed instructor, I do share what I’ve learned in my 200+ formal hours of training to teach friends and family so as to benefit them in such a situation. As an example, most people think it’s illegal to shoot someone in the back but the truth is, if you’re truly justified to shoot someone, where you shoot them is of little consequence,.

Tom Givens of Rangemaster has requested his students contact him when they’ve been involved with the use of firearms. I’m quoting from memory here but he said the majority of attacks his students reported to him took place in parking lots and that his students had only lost gun fights three times. They were three students who happen to be unarmed at the time. His other 64 to 67 students came out on top. So it does really happen in real life and regularly takes place in parking lot around vehicles.
But the true bottom line is, if you’re comfortable with what you know and how you do it, then stick with it, because the cost will only be to you

To EnzoT, man you’re so wrong about that last comment, there are blind kids that can play a piano like the best in the world after hearing the notes one time , just as an example. You’re so wrong about that but you are right about fate calling the shots.
All I mean to put things milder is some tweeker who approaches you with a knife or something and people like us are aware of our situation more than likely will know exactly what he’s up to how much “ training “ has he had?
And why in a civilian life would two professional gun fighters get into such a contest?
I just think anything can be overdone and I d k about anyone else but I can spot a “ super trained “ for the sake of a better word a mile away.
And unless you like court rooms and jail cells you had better not concern yourself with other people and saving everyone’ because it will come back and bite you most of the time

Having said all that ( I know I shoot before I aim, with my 40 MM pie hole, which I’m sorry for ) and going out and shooting and practicing is very fun because that’s all we used to do when I could and had a place to shoot but now I’m very sick and won’t get any better either so I shouldn’t blow off when I do.
Now I live right in the middle of town and don’t like the indoor ranges .plus I’m just to sick I can’t do it anymore. Takes to much outta me. Hang tuff
