My son and I went to the range today, had a great time, did some drills all went well. But then I had to ask, when is too much too much?
We practiced with a
.22
.380
9MM
.45
556
Great time for sure but we didn’t spend a lot of time on any one gun, more like shaking the dust off all of them, staying current but no extreme training drills.
Drills are great, but sometimes you just gotta have fun!!!
Nothing wrong with burning powder. I have my days where i focus on one gun and other days i just burn powder through multiple.
Sometimes ‘It is what it is!’ SPORT!‘, Fun, FAMILY! Bustin’ Caps! LIFE IS GOOD Bruh! No Worries!
Larry, Joel NAILED IT! (and all the Gunner’s after us prolly!)
I’m glad you had Quality time with your Son.

Practice and drills are great and need to be done but sometime just having fun is better nothing wrong with just cutting lose.
Once, I went to the range with three pistols, all 9mm.
The RSO said I had too many guns.
Amateur
Over eager novice RSO
I had a 300 Savage that each bullet costs about $8.00 a round. I shot it six times and got it zeroed and called it DONE! It was painful to shoot expensive rounds but I had to get it zeroed. My brother mentioned that if I had any old guns that he would like to get them if I was willing. I went to send it to him and the insurance on it was covered for a $3,000.00 Rifle. I hope he is happy with it!
Shooting something I can afford is priceless and painless too!
You never could have to many guns. And plenty of ammunition
My half sister is coming to town over memorial weekend…
She has never shot, but wants to…. So my full sister asked if I could bring a gun or two to the range to give her an experience?
My thoughts were; (from my personal arsenal)
.22LR; single six, mk4, 10/22, and m&p15-22
9mm; Sig 365, G43,
.45; Sig 1911, FNX tactical (with suppressor)
5.56 IWI Tavor (with suppressor)
12ga DP-12
That’s 10 guns,… just from my arsenal…
Then my full sister’s family has guns to bring too…. At least another 4-6 of them….
So something like 15+ guns seems about right?
Edit: let’s add a 1911 airsoft to the list as I suggested my sister use hers to teach the 4 rules to 1/2sis before we put lethal weapons in her hands!
Its a start…
I think she will like the 15/22. That AR platform in .22 is easy to shoot and new to experience shooters just like.
it’s never to much, and any time you at the range or plinking you are training. think about it you are training to do all the things safely and training on proper marksman ship. and your enjoying it.
Did you ask him what law or rule you were breaking?
I did not because it sounded more like an opinion than anything else.
I’ve been to other indoor ranges and often brought three or four pistols to train with. I did not return to that place.
Sounds about right. Remain current with all available tools.
Perfect complement to introduce new users as well so that they understand what’s available.
Great suggestion, allow them to step up through the calibers, helps them figure out where they’d be comfortable. I usually go .22 to 9MM in one step, never thought about a stop in betweenn
Yep, what Larry said.
My son-in-law and I just went out to make a pile of empty brass. We warmed up with several .45 Colt single actions. Then moved up to .44 Mag in a 7.5” Super Blackhawk, then moved UP to a Bisley .480 Ruger blasting full power 400 grain loads and finished by shooting a 10.5” barreled Smith&Wesson Performance Center .500 Mag slinging 440 grain small cannon rounds.
It was a great day and absolutely no drill were fired, just vaporizing all sorts of things and giggling like two 13 year old girls at a Taylor Swift concert!!!
That right there is full on Manly Man stuff!
