I’ll be sharing Thanksgiving with my brother (chosen, not blood) and his family. It will be a gun safe zone, not gun free. They will be secured under lock and key of holstered on a hip.
@MikeBKY Happy Thanksgiving Mike
Happy Thanksgiving you guys, and gals. Carry on, and pass the mashed potatoes.
Thank You Sir, and also to you and your family.

Happy Thanksgiving
If I am not welcome as I come. I don’t go. I have no problem staying at home and letting wife, daughter go if they wish.
Much of my family lives in upstate New York. I will not go to visit. I will not enter a state that does not allow conceal carry. Period …
This question has come up with the slight twist that the family doesn’t forbid a weapon but they do express disapproval. Because I cannot provide any protection for my family with my weapon in my car I would keep it with me. Seriously, if it was so contentious because I was legally carrying that they made it a choice I wouldn’t go. I didn’t decide to get a LTC because I believed the world was such a safe place that I didn’t need one. I got one because bad things happen to good people. To make the effort to mitigate the danger of home invasion or robbery or car jacking only to leave my defensive mechanism home in the safe or locked up in a car safe make no sense to me.
Of course you could always send over a freshly taken wild turkey you’ve harvested with a note that this turkey lived and died like the noble wild animal it was and not some mass murdered genetically mutant denizen of a poultry concentration camp, which would certainly have been found offensive to both you and your family members
“Other.” I don’t travel for the holidays.
I responded ‘Other’ because if I was told I can’t carry in their house I won’t visit their house. It’s pretty simple. If you place a condition on me entering your home, and that condition is that I am unable to defend myself if I do so, it’s pretty clear that I am not welcome in your home.
Ummm, my wife is super uncomfortable about firearms. I am, I mean she is 5’11", 225 lbs, has a deep voice, an Adams apple and looks alot like I would if I were to put on a dress. I would, I mean she would love to go the range with the 2 of you.
That’s a picture of me, I mean my wife behind our Husky
Leave the gun locked up in the car. Not worth getting into any sort of headaches with family members, my case a future father-in-law
Wouldn’t go.
My mom don’t like it but after I was attacked she tolerates it if she wants me to come to visit since I was attacked less than a half a block from her house. My boyfriends parents do not like it, and since they don’t agree with him dating me because I am a white guy, we just simply do not go to their functions, and he has told them if I am not welcome he will not come either.
You’re good to go I mean your wife is. Yep, your wife.
I answered the question truthfully however not a single member of my immediate family would ever suggest that I not carry. Believe it or not my own mother began carrying at my suggestion. This was due to the fact that we live rural and I told her that I was not always going to be around. We went together to get her first pistol. (We had shot together prior) Later she surprised me with a new pistol she purchased on her own.LoL. She carried for about 12 years until dementia started to set in and I was forced to take her guns away. Boy was she mad#%$& But by this time she was living with me. Now if I were doing the holidays with extended family and they disapproved of CC I would do as stated and leave it in the car/truck. ONCE!! Everyone in my family knows my background and my demeanor so they probably would never eaven question my choices or suggest such a concept.
