What Would You Do? – Parking Lot Encounter

Long ass if not in danger then I will use my knowledge of self defense action ..

We teach it, for many reasons. First, to protect the hand, closed fist strikes can and often do injure the hand. Second, I don’t need to be precisely accurate, Edge of the hand is ideal but if I make contact with the wrist or forearm I still have a chance to cause enough damage to change the commitment of the attacker. Third, open hand is narrower than closed fist, making it easier to get past the chin and make contact with the target. Maybe that’s to much detail?

The area around my daughter’s work got bad from homeless encampments. She uses a carry purse and her hand is on the pistol when she exits the car. If anyone grabs the purse her hand comes out with a gun in it. She also knows to not let anyone get near her. They moved to a more secure building.

Yeah. I had that dream once.

Simple, really. Nobody wants to mess with a Knight.

… and two stomp-buttons on the floor.

One to dim the lights, the other to wash the windshield.

I accept your sound logic.

I always used the “other” to start the engine - after turning the key to the ON position. I’ve never seen the wash the windshield button on the floor.

My 48 F-2 only had the high beam switch on the floor, the start button was on the dashboard.

It had vacuum powered wiper (drivers side only) washers? Why you need washers? It’s raining isn’t it?

My Monza and Skyhawk had the highbeams on the floor. My Spitfire had a twist-knob for the wipers on the dash, and it had a “formula 409” style pump at the back of the knob so when you pressed it repeatedly enough, for long enough, it built up some pressure and squirted a little blue juice on the windacreen.

Also, growing up, my dad had a couple old Model T’s. One had a starter on the floor. The '14 was crank-only.

So true most are not trained well and lack speed… I have been lucky so far 3 times. I have survive… I have not had an easy life like Will-B likes to elude too… I just don’t talk about it because it still bothers me. cliff notes, one guy had a large screwdriver, other a knife, last but not least a gun. A saturday night special… No slide, no hammer to put my hand into to stop it from firing… Every time I thought I was going to die. ok ok the guy with the screwdriver, not so much. Plus he was really skinny… Everytime I guess I was lucky or training kicked in or the desired to live . Call it what you will. I am still here…

Whew, tough spot. I’d probably keep walking, stay calm, and have 911 ready just in case.

It wasn’t a dream I had, actually. I saw the movies…

I see you have contributed a net zero to this discussion… Please enthall us all with your brilliance on just how you would handle the scenario. I am eagerly awaiting this witty retort.

Might wish to be checked out by a licensed physician for possible Dementia…

Weekly occurrence, at minimum, in my neck of the desert. Quick threat assessment, no reply, keep walking. If they close distance, it’s a verbal no and halt command. Knock wood, I’ve only ever had to smack someone with my purse once. Have been car-jacked, though. Idiot couldn’t figure out paddle shifters.

I re-read all the posts. You were serious, and not only in a “what if” way.

My apologies.
