I’m super lucky, my favorite range is in my yard. I can go there any time with no restrictions. However when I was in MS my favorite ones were the Starkville Gun Range and the Magnolia Rifle and Pistol Club. Both were private members only ranges.

That’s interesting, @Patrick_A. Have they had an issue with reloads in the range?

All the range people I have talked to that do not allow reloads tell me it is an insurance issue but I sometimes wonder if it isn’t a “I want you to buy my ammo” thing.

The range where I work, reloads are allowed. There is ammo for purchase when you decide to shoot more than you brought with you

I use a range called Ozark Thunder. The owner and his son operate the range. It is an indoor range and very well ran. He also has a civil war weapons museum at the range. 5 stars to the small business and his operations!!!

Yes, several years ago they suffered an incident on the range and implemented the "no reload "policy. When you check in, an ammo review is performed.

That makes sense. Ammo can definitely be reloaded wrong and I cannot begin to imagine the liability a range takes on when someone brings in reloads.
One policy at the range I where I shoot is you cannot rent a handgun by yourself - there has to be someone else with you or have your own guns with you as well. It’s an unfortunate result of experiences they’ve heard of at other ranges.

The local range in MI sorts by members and non members. Members can rent without bringing a gun, but nonmembers can’t.

My local shooting range is pretty old, but I can holster draw. That makes it my favorite (fletchers).
I was always thinking about going to the local technical college (WCTC), they have a well maintained range with technology (from what I hear) The problem is they have specific calibers only that can be shot. 10mm is not on that list, so that limits things for me. Funny, because I can shoot a .223 rifle there. It’s a range for the police training coarse, so it’s catered to that.
There’s the Wisconsin Firearms training center, I’m planning on taking a USCCA course there early July. It’s kind of far away with bad traffic at the times I’ll be going. I just realized that I have a good amount of ranges within 20 minutes of my home.

It’s a bit of a drive, but check out the Range of Richfield. No draw from holster, but better caliber limits. And you can see me there occasionally

164 is my main route to work - so it’s been causing a slight headache on the commute.

I agree the farm is where I go most of the time (I admit I use a indoor range when winter weather gives me no other option for practice). Most ranges are “stand and shoot”, where the farm allows me to set up drills from class and use multiple targets.

When I move, I need to get a bunch of land so I can do that as well, @Greg1. My neighbors would be a little upset if I tried that in the neighborhood I’m in now.

I am a big fan of the range at the American Police Hall Of Fame in Titusville, Florida. It is in a great location, awesome facility and some of the best training classes I have had the chance to be in.New to shooting or a seasoned veteran, the staff is there to help. They also have a lot of great tactical shooting events and woman’s events as well. If anyone from Florida is reading this, check them out as you will not be sorry.

Well, that’s a common thing for me lol. We typically shoot the bull, pardon the pun, about what each carries, what our favorite firearms are and what’s our dream firearms. I’ve yet to have a bad encounter with an LEO when it comes to anything firearm related. Although the above mentioned encounter was a fun one.
