The failed war on drugs is a big contributor to instability in central America. The war on drugs has not reduced demand for drugs in the US. At best, it inflates the street price, which enriches the drug cartels and organized crime that have destroyed many central American countries and Mexico’s border states. So, yes, our failed LE activities in the US contribute to the migrant masses fleeing north.
And, what do you mean by this comment “But you have to be smarter than a bag of sh#t!” Is your view that people fleeing their home countries are ignorant bags of sh#t!? What do you mean by that? They are your words, after all.
I get what you’re saying. The issue is we - the USA - cannot afford financially and socially to fix their problems. We have problems of our own. The least of which is Taylor Swift and the clowns that bow down to her and what she calls music. We can build a big, tall, wall. We can build it using steel reinforced concrete if we need to. We can patrol it with drones. We can do all this and much more while maintaining a reasonable budget. What we can’t do is ruin our country just because some dictator does not want to care for his people. Some countries make it, some don’t. Some people make it, some don’t. It’s been like this for thousands of years. It ain’t broke. So don’t try and fix it.
So where will money for a 3,000+ mile high tech wall come from? We will print it, of course, like the money we print to give to give to our BFFs to fight forever wars in the Ukraine and Israel, or the money we print to fight the failed war on drugs that just enriches cartels.
“They” are already “our” problem given that there are more than 11 million undocumented migrants here already. “They” are not going to return to their countries so long as they are ravaged by drug cartels, economies in the toilet and forever wars.
Well, they ain’t doctors, lawyers, scholars, poets, artists ( graffiti doesn’t count ), architects ( brick laying doesn’t count ), educators, some wouldn’t qualify to wipe my a$$! Those are my words and I stand by them!
I’m about 1/2 way through the hour+ video. So far, Bret Weinstein’s conclusion is that migration from Central America is due to folks fleeing economic collapse (failed states), but he “feels” differently about the Chinese migrants and believes they “feel” hostile to him without providing any details. He has not, so far, argued that the migrants in the camps he visited are soldiers or terrorists.
Many – especially CNAs working in health care – probably do/will wipe you a$$.
I assume that you can distinguish between bad actors and those who are not. Not everyone who approaches the southern border trying to get into the US is a hardened criminal. But, many people paint them all migrants with the same brush, as has happened repeatedly in US migration history (e.g., the Chinese Exclusion Act).

If you live in the west, your housing was probably built in large measure by Spanish speaking workers that no one wants to ask whether they are undocumented.
Our government – at least the people we elect to office for life – has done nothing to address illegal migration. What will likely happen, if history is any guide, is that government will declare amnesty when it realizes that the numbers are too large to deal with, and declare “This is the last time we will do this!”
Until and unless people who believe migration policies are screwed up get off their couches and run for (and win) office, our government will do nothing.
Closing the border means, Stop Anyone from crossing into The United States of America, North South East or West, that have not complied with EVERY SINGLE Law regarding coming into our country. We have laws about Who can come in, What they can come in here for, What they can do while they are here and HOW LONG THEY CAN STAY HERE.
Every single man woman and child from anywhere else will comply with every single law = Border Closed.
This occurred to me today. How about treating Immigration the same way California/New York/Chicago treat firearms. Every time they get a chance they make it tougher to do and amp up enforcement.
