Hello. I am Tim, live in Oklahoma ( constitutional carry state , Thank you Governor Stitt)
I have been raised with firearms since i was a wee lad, grew up hunting with my dad mainly small game for table food. I have always owned firearms but am new to concealed carry, in fact i just completed my SDA class last week. I am an avid Youtube watcher and discovered USCCA and Warrior Poet society among others that all sang the praises of joining uscca.
I have a membership to a nice indoor range and frequent it at least 3 times a month but am fast learning that shooting is merely a jumping off point in learning “self defense”
I’m mid 50’s disabled and don’t move nearly as good as i used to, so i came to the realization that my protection is up to me and a firearm being on me all the time is the only way i can protect myself.
The best advice i’ve gotten? hmmmmm aside from joining uscca which i recently did i’m not sure its advice or simply thought provoking adages but here they are.
1 when seconds count the police are just minutes away. (rang true being in rural Oklahoma)
2 If you have to defend yourself and you’re more than 2 seconds from a gun you’re unarmed ( hence the belly band holster for home carry while wearing comfy clothes)
My favorite gun? sheesshh do i have to pick one? my edc away from home is a Taurus g2c in a Versacarry owb holster. my at home is a S&W 624 airweight in a belly band holster and my bedside is a Judge loaded with 000

I try to get at least one person a month that is anti gun or at least very unfamiliar with firearms to the range with me.

Thank you bruce26 and nancy. I mentioned it to her just now. She is completely new in owning a firearm and operating them. We have been together for 2 years and shes just now kinda getting into them so I try not to push her in anything. I have been giving her little tastes of what information i know then let her choose to grab bite to it and want to know more or save it for another day. She really enjoys range date days and couldnt believe how much fun and how much of a stress reliever it is.

I grew up in the woods also and have been around firearms all my life.

I carry a G43X and I thought I would go to grave with that weapon but unfortunately I found a similar pistol 9mm with the 10+1 in a Sig P365 SAS and I can tell you I found my EDC for life. The smooth trigger pull (although a bit long) is much nicer. I also enjoy the light trigger weight. (I recently switched my G43X to a 3.5lbs trigger have yet to shoot it, with working 7-12’s makes it a little difficult to get any time in, but I am eager to see the change.) The sights are much nicer as well and give you great looks in complete darkness, I tried it in my bathroom lights out and you could see them just as clearly.
My G43X will be in my nightstand though for my girlfriend in case there’s an issue.

It is amazing to see people actually having adult conversations here. Can’t do that very often these days. You have all instilled a new confidence in myself for not feeling alone on the CCW side of things.
I am Tristan, volunteer firefighter and Union Iron Worker. I just recently became more involved in shooting after reading about my Gov. and her plans to deteriorate the current standings of our 2nd Amendment. I have imbedded myself into the learning of safe keeping and handling, self taught on most of this but also very eager to learn more.
I OC until my license comes in the mail, a Sig P365 SAS and have a home defense weapon of G43X. I also recently purchased a 15SportII .223/5.56 rifle. I am interested in getting into competitive shooting either pistol, rifle or 3 gun.

Hello, I’m Taft from South Carolina. I’m a member of a local church security team. As a previous law enforcement officer and military veteran I have carried a weapon much of my adult life. My training has been intensive over the last 40 years in self defense and firearms tactics. I have attended various policy training courses including SWAT shoot house tactics and currently train weekly with my pastoral protection detail group. The best advise has been serve with wisdom, humility and courage. My preferred service weapon is a Glock model 45 9mm. My wife serves with me on the church security team as a camera operator. USCAA offers outstanding training resource to it’s members that I take advantage of often during my years of membership.
Not sure, but this looks like the place for initial intro. I’m nobody. Been a member for 18 months or so.
We are all somebody to someone Bob30 and here we are pretty much family (some of us more dysfunctional then others but still family).
