Welcome to the family Shawn and hope you can learn a lot from the knowledgeable people here.
Thanks a lot Johnny. I have no doubt that I will. I appreciate it.
Hi everyone, good to be here. I live in SE Iowa and have had my CCW/permit for a few years. Both my sons are former US Army, so we’re a gun loving family.
Looking forward to “meeting” you all!
Welcome to the family brother
Fizbin,
The pleasure is all mine! Do you have any associates in the Fort Bragg area that might be interested in training (Gun Safety | Home Defense | Concealed Carry) at our home when not on the range?
-JD
Thanks, man, I appreciate it!

Welcome to the family Bryan and God bless you.
Hey Billy7. If you have a Glock check out GSSF. It is a very friendly group and always welcoming to new people! I am fairly new to competition shooting and have enjoyed the meets I have attended. They are all over the country and for all levels of shooters!
Welcome to the family brother and god bless you.
Thanks Levi. Good to be here.
Thank you for the kind welcome! It is great to be a part of the USCCA family. I joined a couple months ago and now all my favorite gun channels on YouTube are promoting USCCA and encouraging membership. I will continue doing so with my friends and family as well as anyone new or old in the firearms/2A community who may not be aware of USCCA. It is great to see this community of responsible firearms ownership grow in defense of our loved ones and rights.
- Who are you?
My name is Vahan, in Armenian this means “Shield” which gives me a sense of responsibility and pride in doing everything I can to live up to my name in protecting myself, my loved ones and any innocents threatened with harm in my presence. I am happy to say that USCCA contributes greatly to this (and even has the logo to boot).
- What got you interested in carrying and self-defense?
The more I continue to learn about firearms/ammo, the more I see the world get crazier around us while at the same time governments continue to limit our rights to self defense, the more comfortable I get with the guns I have and realize daily the need to preserve this right I inch closer toward carrying for self-defense. I am not there yet and living in CA may slow down that process, but I look forward to earning my ability to CC in the USA.
- How long have you been training for your self-defense?
I have done a lot more educational-based training for the last couple years than live fire training; however, I have been a gun owner for 5 years now and have practiced at the range with different types of firearms, but not yet found the one I want to formally master.
- What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten regarding your self-defense?
To always remain aware of my surroundings. Awareness buys time as you recognize a potential threat and that time buys you options of escape or action. Knowing how to verbally deescalate a situation before it becomes physical while also maintaining acute attention to body language and verbal/physical cues of impending attacks.
- What’s your favorite gun?
Of the ones I’ve shot HKP2000 9mm. From reviews I’ve seen, the Meridian Defense AK47 “Classic”.
- How often do you train?
Never enough.
- How have you gotten your friends and family involved?
I take them to the range with me when possible. I encourage firearm ownership along with membership with communities such as these. I share the knowledge I learn from all the articles and videos I consume. I remind them or our rights and freedoms and how/why this country was founded.
- What do you hope to learn from others in the USCCA Community?
I hope to learn of everyone else’s experiences in deciding to arm themselves, why they chose to do so and how they help grow the community in their own circles. I hope to learn of some awesome guns out there I may like to own (if CA allows it or once I finally decide to move out). I hope to learn that there are more and more good guys out there who will eventually raise their collective voices in drowning out the negativity that is constantly sprayed upon the firearms community.
USCCA!
U Should Carry Chambered Always
Welcome Vahan!! I am a recent member as well, and I can tell you I am glad I went with USCCA! The educational materials available are awesome. Make sure you check out Warrior Poet Society on YouTube as well. They do a lot with USCCA and their videos are great! You will see once you own a gun, and actually do some research, that the image put out there by the media and anti-gun people is SO inaccurate. They seem to believe we all are looking for any excuse to shoot someone. The complete opposite is true. Aside from a few Gun Hoe Joes, all most all the teaching is how NOT to get in a gun fight. Again WELCOME!!
I look forward to exploring more and more of USCCA moving forward. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I have subscribed to WPS on YT, but not yet perused their material. I appreciate the heads up. I agree with you that the best fight is the one you’re not in. As with media, “none of what you hear and maybe half the things you see” may be true. Thanks for the feedback and welcome. See you 'round these parts!
Welcome to the family brother Vahan and you will definitely get some excellent training here.
Thanks Dawn! I am really excited to be part of this team. I recently retired from full time employment and reside in sunny Florida. I had the honor of being in the U.S. Army, Field Artillery, for 22 years then spent 17 years in the civilian corporate world. I highly recommend retirement!!
**** I am very interested in becoming a USCCA Instructor, but am unsure of “how” to go about starting this journey. If anyone has any pointers I would greatly appreciate your input.**
Thanks again and stay safe!
This link will lead you to a starting point for becoming an instructor.

Btw, welcome to the community.
Thank you!!
You’re quite welcome. I plan to take that leap one of these days as well. One step at a time.
