Welcome to the Community! Please Introduce Yourself

Welcome to the community @BlackHawk! Thank you for your service as well. Becoming an instructor is definitely a great way to give back and teach others your skill set. Also, consider aligning yourself with instructors that you admire and learn the business side of things. Good luck and feel free to reach out anytime!

Welcome to the Community! Have you started the process of becoming a USCCA Certified Instructor yet?

If you have not, I would be happy to help you get that process started!

Also, thank you so much for your service to our country. I added the Veteran/MIlitary badge to your account!

Thank you for adding the badge! Also, how do I get the USCCA members badge? And where do I find the new users tutorial? I would like to get my certified badge :joy:

I have spoken to one instructor in the area - broadly defined as within a couple of hours from me. But do not plan on taking the course until August or possibly September.

Thanks for the welcome!

@BlackHawk Find your group of professionals…stay close and learn as much as you can. I was out in St. Louis a couple weekends ago and was able to work with KD of No Other Choice Firearm Training, Ken Scott and the Provectus Group, Rob Pincus, Barret Kendrick of Bear Co. Training, PDNetwork, Aquil Bey of Tailored Defense Group, Ryan & Amber of Fit to Fight and many, many others. Couldn’t be more honored, humbled and motivated from the continued education.

Hi all. I am new here.
At the beginning of this year, my wife expressed high interest in self protection, due in part to alot of the idiocy we keep seeing since the pandemic.
To this point I had a very subcompact Sig that sat around mostly in a locked box for a few years. We had bought it about 5 years ago when we were doing alot of RV camping. After shooting a few times I was not happy with it just sat.
With her major interest now, we went to the local range and took a basic class, traded in the Sig for a full size FN for me and a SW Shield EZ for her.
She loved the range time so we are now members. We both took the CCW class and have been spending alot more time looking into our home defense.
It has been a fun experience for both of us.
It is amazing how once you start, you seem to think nothing of spending $$$ on more items. We now have four pistols and a shotgun in the house and are working diligently to improve our skills. Took two handgun courses and eventually plan on taking more in depth defensive pistol training.
We signed up with USCCA at the recent Sig Freedom Days event in early May.
Neither of us actually carry just yet. Still getting our feet wet in this area, but have laid out the home pretty well. No kids for us which gives more leeway to what we can do.
I have found a ton of very helpful info on this site and hope to be able to give back to the community here at some point.

Hi Everyone, I have been a member for several months. I am a retired LEO and an 8 year USAF veteran. Prior to retiring, I was an IALEFI certified Master Instructor (3 gun) as well as an FBI certified Firearms Instructor (3 gun). I held several other LE instructor certifications. I am enjoying retirement and still qualify annually to maintain my HR218 CCW. I hope to devote more time to the forums and maybe assist in answering questions that may fall within my areas of experience.
