Also why i asked what it was going to be attached to. Build a setup around the firearm, not the accessory. Figure out what firearm you want, then the light and holster will almost figure themselves out. Right now you’re basically trying to pick a gun, that you don’t even know you like, using a flashlight.
Yeah, I agree it’s a bit of an issue, but the holster is really important to me because I’ll need deep concealment. I have a feeling I’ll like all the options I chose, it’s just which one I like the best instead of hating 2 of the 3.
It seems like the TLR-1 should fit flush on a full-size PDP, but that’s it out of my choices. On the full-size CZ p10f and HK VP9 it’s not flush, but it’s not awful. Looks terrible on the compacts though.
Well, it helps with extreme close range ie contact body shots as it helps to prevent slide from being pushed out of battery.
Hey! I resemble that. ![]()

I have a Streamlight TLR-8 on my duty pistol. It is 500 lumerns, but I don’t know the candela. I find it to be quite bright, especially inside a darkened house. I would imagine it would blind an attacker within 10 yards or better. It has the light with a laser dot in the middle of the light cone, if you want it that way. It also has a strobe feature.
My TLR-8 fits flush on my full-size Sig M17-P320.
Agreed. 1000 will melt your retinas. Lol
IMO, no hand held light is bright enough to rely on it “stunning” or “blinding” an attacker.
It’s a “tactically useful” amount of light.
Back in the day, people considered 65 lumens to be tactical (whatever that means) and 120 lumens to be like super uber eye melting bright. Because we didn’t have any better.
These days some WML are more like 2k lumens.
But yeah 500 lumens for a pistol mounted light is “enough”.
'couse to “stun” or “blind” someone with a WML, you kind of have to point the muzzle of the gun directly at their face
Also remember that lumens are perceived on a logarithmic scale. Twice the lumens does not look twice as bright. Double lumens looks “a bit” brighter give or take
Helps keep the recoil down though. ![]()
Is the holster you want available for all combinations of firearm/light? I saw that you specifically want an enigma and that it’ll work with all pistol options, but lights too? Also, not to be a naysayer, but if you find the absolute perfect holster on the first holster, possibly every person in the forum will be jealous. I, like others here, have a stash of all the "perfect " holsters that didn’t work out, somewhere in the house ![]()
Also, thanks for saying "deep concealment " …for some reason when i think deep concealment, I imagine something like @Zavier_D with a P365 and like 19 knives hidden in a Hawaiian shirt and some cargo shorts, looking like Sam Axe doing that 007 roll thing.
Which brings up an interesting thought. Could one buy a light that’s too bright? Let’s face it, the possibility of shining the light (when it’s not on the gun) in your own eyes or the eyes of a loved one is a lot higher than using the light to blind an intruder. The last thing you want is to accidentally permanently damage your own sight with your flashlight. Just a thought.
Nonsense!! 4 rules of flashlight safety…1 Never point a high lumen/candela flashlight at retinas you do not wish to destroy. 2 keep your finger off the switch until you are ready to flash. 3 remember your target and what’s beyond it. 4. Always treat a flashlight as if it has fully charged batteries.
My thought would be…we’re talking about a light that’s on a gun. Pointing the light directly at the eyes (the only way a flashlight can really be a concern) means pointing the GUN directly at the eyes.
So, my opinion, if you’re worried about the flashlight when you are pointing an ostensibly loaded GUN at your loved ones face…see where I’m going?
Also, compare the lumens output of these lights to regular lightbulbs in like ceiling fans etc.
A 100 watt incandescent light bulb, or a 100 watt equivalent moden LED, is 1,600 lumens.
So we’re talking about basically a single solitary 60 watt-100 watt household light bulb.
I agree… but I did say “when it’s not on the gun.” I haven’t met a gun owner who doesn’t take off the flashlight from the gun from time to time.
I just carry a handheld in addition to my pistol lights. Theres about 10000 scenarios where i need a flashlight but not something i want to point a gun at on a daily basis. Depending on range as well, the throw on the streamlight TLR-1HL is large enough at 10-12 feet that even with a depressed muzzle aimed at your waist is still going to put your face in the flashlights cone.
My edc has a TLR7sub, my G34 has a special edition TLR1-HL and my 10mm has a TLR-1s thats a little older. I carry a Cloud MCH HD every day. the MCH is 1100 lumens and 80,000 candela on high discharge. while the TLR HL is 1000 lumens, they are only 20,000 candela.
The holster I want is the Floodlight 2, which comes with the Enigma Express LB. It indexes any gun that has a TLR-1 series of X300 series WML. So I need to figure out which gun I like and which size I want. If I get a compact, I’ll prolly get the TLR-7. That doesn’t work with the Floodlight 2, but Enigma has an OS option where you can assemble their belt system and attach a custom holster to the front plate. So, if I get a full-size, I’ll get the TLR-1HL and the Enigma Express (pre-assembled) LB system with the Floodlight 2. If I get a compact, I’ll have to assemble the system, buy a separate holster, and put the two together, because I’d get the TLR-7 if I get a compact.
Yea but the gun shouldn’t be unholstered if I can’t justify force. And if I can justify unholstering, I can most likely justify pointing it at someone and turning on the light as a last-ditch effort to escape or make the attacker leave me alone.
I have not seen anyone mention that before regarding WML, but was aware of it due to Fire Detection and Alarm installations. It appears it is only a trigger for about 3% of epileptics, but worth it working if your Bad Guy is one of the 3% ![]()
