@Andrew42, we know it’s not “your” fault for who gets elected!
However, what you stated is an example of the dangers of popular vote. I’m so sorry that Washington St Insurance commissioner has decided to do this.
Have you tried writing your representatives? I understand if they don’t respond…my governor will never respond because I’m Conservative and I even voted for him over Eddie Rispone here in Louisiana. Although he’s definitely moderate Democrat.
Lastly, send poll results (even though they are unreliable). You could make a large petition. I promise you won’t be hard to find some 2A people to sign and send the list in.
I always contact my representatives. I did contact them about this today but I have not heard back yet. I usually just get the canned response… “Thank you for contacting me with your concerns, I will keep your opinions in mind as we look toward ending the gun violence epidemic in America” … What I found so stupid about this in particular is that they tried to make self defense insurance a mandatory thing a few years ago. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
And in some places like California they are trying to do both at the same time.
Its mandatory. And its illegal. So… guess what, no guns!
It’s pretty sad that it’s this crazy. So sorry you’re taking the brunt of it. I know USCCA is working on it.
I didn’t know a gun could be violent would be my my response.
A gun is neither good or bad because it’s a tool. As we all are aware that most who say that live in fancy houses with large fences and armed security at their side.
Ah ha!! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!!! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this…never attempt to use logic when anti-2A politicians are involved!!!
Ok seriously…the kind of “insurance” they were wanting gun owners to purchase was like collision insurance for automobiles and would pay out to anyone shot by the policy holder’s handgun(s) (whether in self-defense or not) for medical, pain and suffering, lost wages etc. Not to defend a law abiding gunowner who had to use their gun in self-defense against a criminal…because that would just make too much sense.
There hope also was to use this insurance as another type of barrier to entry for gun ownership and reduce the number of “lawful” gun owners. Like a poll tax.
Good luck out there friend, keep fighting that good fight.
Thanks for the support everyone! We want to be there for everyone and have teams of people working on it. I cannot wait for the day I can tell you this is all resolved!
If USCCA cannot provide coverage in Washington State, and possibly others, Does this mean that those of us who are members from other states would not be protected if we are involved in an incident in Washington, et al? I am in Maine but have to pass through those criminal cesspools/gun-free zones of CT, NY, NJ, etc to get to Florida in the winter.
We are not able to sell memberships in Washington state. However, if you live in Idaho and have a USCCA membership, your membership would be able to assist you if you had a self-defense incident in Washington state.
Same goes for other states. Does that help? What other questions can I assist you with?
I posted this on a similar thread a day or so ago.
I cannot tell you what Washington State will do but, the complaint they are making is that USCCA is not authorized to sell insurance in their state.
If we just assume, for arguments sake only, that USCCA is an insurer under the laws of WA and are subject to their insurance laws, would that prevent USCCA from providing benefits to members form other states for an incident that occurs in WA?
The best example illustrating how this is handled in other situations is how automobile insurance is handled. Generally, any automobile insurer that wants to do business in a state must get authorization from the state to do so. I know Kentucky Farm Bureau is not licensed to sell insurance in Washington state either and KFB does not sell in WA, they only sell in KY. If I had KY car insurance and drove my car there, even though KFB is not authorized to do business there, would I still be covered? The unequivocal answer to this question is YES! My contract with KFB follows me and my vehicle wherever I or it goes, it is not specific to Kentucky. If I am in a wreck in WA, all of the benefits I have under that policy are available to me, indemnity for liability, coverage for my property damage, medical expenses and wage loss, vehicle rental, etc. Thje fact that you drove out of state into a state in which your insurer is not approved by the state does not turn you in to an uninsured motorist.
I would expect that USCCA will comply with the terms of the member agreement no matter where the occurrence takes place.
This doesn’t surprise me at all. Socialism bears no common sense, nor does it subscribe to reasonable expectation of innocence. In Socialism and Communism, firearm ownership and self defense is an admission of guilt. It’s impossible to expect any good outcome when communicating with either devil. Just ask Virginia.
I spend my summers in Idaho. Could I just renew my membership with my Idaho address even though I spend most of my time in Washington? This is so upsetting to me to not have that coverage. I have been with USCCA for many years and I don’t really trust another organization.
@Dawn would have to answer that one for sure being I’m only a USCCA affiliate, but my “opinion” would be a negative being it could get the company in trouble.
I’m sorry, but you will have to use your primary residence for your membership. We will definitely follow up with you when we reach a solution with the State of Washington!
Is that actually in the works now? How long until I can get coverage again? My job requires that I carry large amounts of cash daily so I am constantly in danger. I do not feel as safe as I did when I had my elite coverage. I hear that New York has been waiting for a result for over a year! I have started looking at if I can possibly get coverage from another company in the meantime but I have not found any that are still offering coverage for Washington state still. This is so unbelievable to me. Why on Gods green earth would the services offered by the USCCA be blocked by anyone!? It just doesn’t make sense? I would like an honest answer though. If Washington state and New York are being written off and there is nothing being planned to remedy the situation I would rather be told the truth so I can move my family out sooner. I am already planning to move from my home state of Washington because of the anti American crap that is happening anyway. Thanks for your time and help.
