Virginia... Again

@ES16 Thanks for posting this. Here is what the folks in my county had to say: 2nd Amendment Spotsy vote - YouTube

It is a long video clip (24 min). The last person to speak, Chris Yakabouski, explained that we will not even concede to gun registration.

I so hope that the Patriots in Virginia do whatever it takes to fight this tyranny. IMO this is a Fort Sumter moment.

Good for you, this is what happened to me in CA.

1994 legislators banned certain semi autos defined as “assault weapons”. Yet if you had them you were “grandfathered” in to be able to keep them and we’re able to use magazines over 10 round capacity. My MAK90 was able to be kept, along with the 30rd magazines I had with it, and the 13rd magazines for my Sig 228, and 15rd magazines for my Glock 22.

2000 legislators mandated all weapons defined as “assault weapons” to be registered, sold to an FFL, moved out of state, or surrendered to be destroyed to law enforcement. I got rid of my MAK90 as I refused to register it as an assault weapon.

2016 legislators passed laws making all preban magazines over 10rds banned and ordered to be surrendered, sold to an FFL, or moved out of state. Then adding definitions/classifications created, along with making previous compliant configurations illegal and now deemed as circumventing current laws, so now considered an assault weapon.

2019 legislators attempting to pass further changes currently defined as featureless configurations to be circumventing the law and should be considered illegal assault weapons.

They will never stop, so don’t think they won’t keep coming back.

Portantino and few other reps out here keep getting shot down and keep coming back redrafting their gun grabbing measures.

Stay active and others take heed make no mistake, it’s only a matter of time until your state will be at risk.

@KenM. I had just been transferred to Edwards AFB CA right before 2000 ban took affect. Transferred a very nice AR I had just built to preacher friend in AZ. His house was burgled and we both lost firearms. Had insurance but that was a sweet rifle.

Very sorry to hear that… always the good guys/gals that get screwed. Eglin AFB Fl. feels your pain.

@KenM - This is a bullseye. You make one of the best arguments I’ve heard about the so called “slippery slope”. In my view it doesn’t exist, it is a cliff. I live in Virginia, which is going down the same road as California and it is only a matter of time before law abiding citizens will be felons in the eyes of the state or unarmed.

You are absolutely right, staying active is our best defense. I haven’t seen the exact statistics, but voter turnout was very low in the 2019 elections in Virginia, which turned both the State Senate and the House of Delegates democratic. Carpetbagger Bloomberg’s money, antigun activists and complacency is what swung the election.

Virginia averages about a 70% turnout during presidential election years and less than 50% during off years. If we are to stop this assault on our rights we must be vocal, active and above all vote.

Admiral Yamamoto after the attack on Pearl Harbor supposedly said: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” Gun owner of America are the sleeping giant and Virginia is the wake call.

America is at the Rubicon in many ways. Just yesterday Democrat congressman Jerry Nadler made this statement…We cannot rely on an election to solve our problems when the president threatens the very integrity of that election." If you think about what he said he’s saying Americans cannot be trusted to choose their own leaders. What’s next? Maybe he also feels that Americans cant be trusted to control their own money, or to educate their own kids. I fully expect a fight, the real kind, to break out within the next year. I do hope I’m wrong!

“Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) caused a firestorm when he suggested using nuclear weapons against American citizens who oppose his far-left gun control agenda, which includes forcing Americans to give up their semi-automatic weapons. Swalwell made the comment in response to a May news article on his radical plan that was widely recirculated on Twitter in which he called for a $15 billion government program to confiscate millions of guns from Americans.” (2018)

Now we are unable to vote or elect a President. That should be a wake up call to all Americans, no matter where you stand on the sitting President. Once this type of behavior is allowed to go forward, with no repercussions, then the above nuclear response becomes a viable threat to be used against it citizens… IMHO.

I’m watching the impeachment clown show and listening to a congressman from Pennsylvania. She just said that they (Congress) don’t need permission to exercise their rights under the Constitution. Now fast forward to the gun debate…these same clowns want every American who owns a firearm to come to the government for permission to own it. My head might explode. Tyrants like the ones I’m listening to cannot be allowed to remain in power.

I had to stop watching this stupidity. I can’t look at this hypocritical crap anymore. I’m not a Trump fan but i don’t dislike the guy either. I’m from NYC originally and grew up with the now President having a story of him or his family in at least one newspaper a week. More than a few people are jealous of the guy due to his being born into money and anything else they thought fit to print. Me, i don’t care, good for him i say. Luck of the Irish. More people are working now and making more cash than I’ve seen in the past 8 years with the previous President. Taking my aggression out at the gym in about an hour…

I really wasn’t posting about Trump. My concern is about the hypocrisy the congresswoman from Pennsylvania displayed. She stated that Congress didn’t need permission from the court to exercise their constitutional rights. I wonder if she, and her party, feel the same about we the people exercising our constitutional rights? To me, her words ring hollow and smell of hypocrisy.

Standing up for what they believe… and putting themselves on the line to train and follow through if needed.

They are going right up the nose of that “shall not march with firearms and intimidate people” law that’s on the table. Extra points for style on that one!

I’m interested to see if other counties follow on.
