The American flag represents freedom, democracy, and the nation’s history, with its 13 stripes symbolizing the original colonies and the 50 stars representing the current states; red signifies valor, white purity, and blue justice, vigilance, and perseverance, embodying national ideals and the sacrifices made for them.

The noose is a powerful and inflammatory symbol of hate, racial violence, and intimidation, primarily associated with the history of lynching and the subjugation of African Americans in the United States. It is comparable in the emotions it evokes to the swastika for Jewish people.

So next you’re going to defend the swastika as nothing more than a social movement.

I cannot believe in this day and age this even needs to be explained or how it simply is “IN POOR TASTE.”

This shows a real lack of judgment on your part; for legal reasons you might want to rethink carrying a weapon.

If the pic said “hang in there N*****s” it would ring as racist.

And if it said “hang in there Trump” the general would likely have been cheering it on.

This whole conversation is because people are injecting their own racism into a political image.

How old must one be for that to be part of your history? Haven’t been lynchings in probably over 100 years in the USA. Even then, it was not common.

The last public execution in the United States happened less than a century ago in Kentucky. Rainey Bethea, a Black man accused of raping a white woman, was hanged in 1936. the last judicial hanging in the United States took place in Delaware on January 25, 1996, when convicted murderer Billy Bailey was hanged.

I have never actually seen one. I’ve only seen pictures on TV or in the newspaper. I don’t think they ever actually showed the pictures of them just reportings. I have talked to enough Black people to know how offensive they are. Plus I have been around when Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered. I was around when there was a lot of racial tension. I guess my point is if someone hadn’t experienced if they wouldn’t know.

I tried to find when the noose became the symbol of racism in the United States,…. Everything I can find says it happened in the last decade or so,… during America’s DEI craze? Also found some references to some hip hop artists using it as a prop in their music.

Honestly I was unaware of that connotation, which isn’t a surprise as I;
A: Don’t listen to hip hop
B: Don’t hang out in racist groups!

I read that sign as hang a politician, serve justice that the American people are due after being betrayed by an elected official.

I do have to admit I was briefly proud of @General_Consensus for putting on his big boy pants and actually answering a question.
