USCCA recommended defense attorney/Lawyer

My husband and I live in Southeast Kansas and just recently joined the USCCA. We was discussing what the benefits was and my husband asked me: Are there any defense lawyers/attorney’s that are suggested or recommended by the USCCA for the southeast kansas area? So now I am asking you all

Thanks Jennifer

Hi. Welcome.

You can email or call the USCCA to ask as well; 800-674-9779.

On your USCCA website dashboard on the lower right hand side is an attorney network tab/icon (for a list).

From there, you can vet or check their various backgrounds, even contact them too see who you prefer the most.

Some suggest letting the USCCA know who you choose to have on fie, should you ever need them.

The USCCA keeps over 1,000 of them on speed dial all over the country but you can use ANY attorney you want, especially in small town where the USCCA might not have a number on file. I google criminal defense attorney in my area, pick a couple to “interview”, call their offices and ask for appointments and explain why. Most will give you 15-30 minutes without charging.

The reason to do that is because you want a guy that is really good and ALSO pro gun owners. Not all of them are. I check their backgrounds and track records and then decide if I like them. If they are not associated with the USCCA I tell them about the benefits and ask them to register with them. Just about everyone I’ve spoken to has over the years. You can also give their name and number to the USCCA and they’ll follow up and get them on their list.

Then I keep their number on my cell phone “favorites”.

All true! All good! There are not that many in Tennessee, they are spread far and wide.

So, my first choice was the closest one to me with in a hour and a half drive on an interstate.

It just so happens that he has an excellent education with a JD doctoral degree in law, and an excellent work history and background in criminal trials, besides being pro-2A.

I did contact USCCA / Delta Defense Critical Incident and they did indicate my choice.

One less thing that I have to aggravate about in time of need than trying to relay any of those particulars.

I am sure that time can be better spent on so much more.

And, yes I have added USCCA critical incident, and this chosen lawyer’s contract information in my cell phone’s contact list.

My attorney of choice is also one of my best friends, We hunt and fish together. He is a great guy. He also said that if he ever had to defend me that he will need the deed to my house, keys to my boat and trailer and to turn over my combination to my gun safe and ammo safe….

He’s not wrong. A good defense to using deadly force against another human is VERY expensive, especially if you live in, or the event happens, in an area of the country with a political anti-gun or even anti-SD environment. That’s why I smile every month when my USCCA membership gets paid. I’ve worked way toohard for everything I own to end up in jail or to lose it all to the legal system and some scumbag and his “family”.

BTW having a friend who’s an attorney is only good if the incident happens in your state, AND he’s a really good criminal defense lawyer. I travel a lot and I’m not giving up my right to defend myself just because I’m not in my home state or because I don’t happen to have a gun with me. The insurance benefit covers you for SD incidents anywhere in the ISA and Territories and using ANY legal at a Federal levrlbweapon, including your hands.

And last point, just because you live in a gun friendly State does not mean you have gun-friendly Law Enforcement or Judicial System in your county or town. When I lived in NC, a rather gun friendly state, if you shot a bad guy in my county the Sheriff would probably do the paperwork for you and help you bury the body. One county over, the local DA tried to bring charges against Police Officers that used their guns while in the line of duty! He did this multiple times. And I know of at least one case where he actually went out of his way to track down an freaking offender (a dirtbag with a rap sheet) and used her (actually black mailed her) to testify so he could bring charges against the guy she tried to kill by running him over with her car, because he dared to pull out his licensed gun to convince her to make a turn.

Yes, facing both criminal, and later “civil” charges.

At a recent free 2A support event I attended, one of the speakers reminded us, even in court after a righteous self defense, it can seem like the prosecutors, like state government, have unlimited amount of funds to use against you. That’s because they are using all of our money. From our taxes, fees, and we elected them.

That alone, should get me to care more about voting.

For me, pause, to try to help or pitch in to causes where I can; And my trying to use good judgement to discern life , limb, or death situation.
