USCCA perks from companies that won't ship to CA

It would be great if the companies providing firearm and ammo discounts to us as members didn’t discriminate based on the state you’re in. Can’t complete a purchase from the Sig custom store because ship-to is CA, Federal and Speer won’t ship to CA. They won’t even consider designated FFL.

I know these companies want to give CA the finger, but really they’re just playing into CA’s hand and we suffer from the result.

It’s frustrating. ok, rant over.

Welcome to the community. Thanks for the input.

Please introduce yourself first. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s hard to have a discussion with someone we don’t know.

He is not new.

But don’t you need to complete a background check to buy ammo in Ca?

Welcome John1911.

Sorry to hear that. Bummer. I’m a “klutz”, but is that the case or is it the regulations of California’s laws which prohibit it?

I’ve experienced in other states, where some have more free laws, others moderate, but if a state goes out of their way to enforce it - might they be fining the buyer and or seller to the point it interferes or causes parties legal woes?

I’ve lived in some states almost as strict as California, some had restrictive laws and some sellers even post on their website - “they can’t ship there”. IDK buddy.

Correct.

In the past, I ordered from MidwayUSA and had ammo delivered to my house. I don’t even recall signing for them.

IIRC if an online vendor still does ammo sales to CA customers, they need to be delivered to FFLs.

I just completely stopped buying online when the infringements took effect so my statements above may not be fully accurate.

I can’t afford to.

Hey guys, sorry. Not familiar with the ways of the group. I’m more of a lurker than an active participant for the last 6months.

  • What got you interested in carrying and self-defense?

I’ve had firearms my entire life, but only started carrying the last year.

  • How long have you been training for your self-defense?

I stopped training for 20+ years but it’s a bit like riding a bike. I started back at the range weekly and dry fire in between, and started some competitive shooting. I’ve still got a ways to go, and there’s always new scenarios to train.

  • What formal training have you had?

A little tactical training back in the day.

  • What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten regarding your self-defense?

your safety and family’s safety is your #1 priority.

  • What’s your favorite gun?

Atm, my Glock 19 gen 5. Next on my list is a Staccato C4X

  • How often do you train?

weekly. Sometimes with a shot timer, sometimes not

  • How have you gotten your friends and family involved?

    of course!

  • What do you hope to learn from others in the USCCA Community?

I like to hear what other people use and struggle with, and how they overcome it. I’m sure I have similar experiences so hearing what other people do may help me visualize something I didn’t think of.

CA is making vendors jump through hoops to send stuff.

  • Ammo has to go to an FFL

  • Purchasing at a store, a background check must be done each time and went from $1 to $5. So you can’t just buy a box without a $5 extra charge every time you buy ammo on consecutive days for example.

  • Parts now can go to your house, but have to be signed by an adult for delivery.

  • Vendors have to verify ID of the buyer (drivers license and address must match)

the last two have to be the dumbest though. I ordered a light for a rifle, and a tail cap on separate orders… BOTH needed to be signed! A flashlight and the cap/button to keep the battery in place???

I’ve been around the self defense world since I was a little kid. I was also raise on a ranch in rural Utah where firearms were simply part of existence. My time in the military added to my level of experience and tactical training so once we moved into a city it just made sense. Then we saw a significant increase in homeless and camps all over the place including right outside of the door of our condo, that and the extreme aggression caused by what ever the drug of the day on the street was. Hand to hand, one or two opponents I feel comfortable that I’d survive, introduce a knife or ten wired out homeless richard heads and things get dicey. Then there’s R, my wife, not a mean bone in here body, until she got pinned up against a wall by a scum bag wanting money (a very well armed gentleman bailed her out and walked her to the front door. So all of that adds up to two trained and training 65yo+ people walking around in downtown SLC with a 9mm and a .38…

Well said John. You may resonate with us as well, especially if we are in states who have tight restrictions whereby we are concerned our state follows suit.

When I was a teen, a family member helped pay for my Taekwondo. I regret I stopped taking the classes.

Long after I had gray hair, I had in storage, my grandpa’s 90 year old rifle. Only to realize, I did not posses a permit for it. So I applied, got it, restored the rifle and ended up going down that rabbit hole.

Locally, I’m checking as to when I have some free time to attend my local USCCA chapter meeting. If you email them, they can connect you to your local chapter if they have one.

Hardest lesson I learned was from having an accident. So now I preach, if you’re going to CCW/carry, let’s talk about doing it safely.

Be well.
