Yeah, that is a lot like NY (NYPL) NY Pistol License, or (NYCPL) issued by countries, not the state.
1- Up and Downstate counties do not have reciprocity without each other’s endorsement which, is another whole process with its fees for only 3-years.
2-the vast majority of NYPLs are not unrestricted, and on premises only, not outside your home, or business, not in public, not accessible in your car. Step outdoors, and you become defenseless. Same thing with not being able to buy a firearm w/o a NYPL.
Unlike Tennessee (8-years) with, (or without a permit since July 1, 2021), in your home, car, business, in public, wherever you have a lawful presence you may either open, or concealed carry.
Just not in typical prohibited
places with approved signage prominently displayed at public entrances like: Schools, Courts, Correctional Detention Facilities, Most Government Offices, like Post Offices, and some private businesses if they chose.
You may enter ‘on premises drinking establishments’ only if you are not consuming alcohol while carrying.
Like not drinking while driving.
But, with those exceptions you may go armed past the end of your driveway in, or out of your car, in public being able to defend yourself most everywhere with your chosen handgun.
A Tennessee CHP Concealed Carry Handgun Permit does not include long guns which, hunting maybe carried where permitted, or in your home, as long as you are not a prohibited
person, like a felon.
Same for handguns w/ or w/o a permit as long as you are not a prohibited
person, or in a prohibited
place.
