@Rich > ONE ANSWER FOR ( > when does recoil happen )
I think it has to do with friction between the projectile and rifling in the barrel.
Now that Iām back in the game;)
I think it is another grey area. I have not done the math but know the gun begins to recoil as soon as the shot is fired. Newtonās law. However the bullet is likely going fast enough that it exits before the barrel has time to rise noticeably. Though when I shoot heavier slower bullets from my handgun they tend to hit a little higher on the target. So maybe the gun has more time to rise with the slower velocity bullet? Either way you likely wonāt feel the recoil until after the bullet leaves the barrel. Especially with a semi auto that will delay some of the transfer of forces.
That math is well beyond my skills but could be possible that the friction counteracts a small percentage of the recoil.
@Shamrock - I think the same way about slower BULLETS are in the pipe longer an thatās why they hit the target higher than a faster same weight bullet. Based on that fact I got into a serious argument on the topic with a friend. The next day he brought in a pile of documentation stating that recoil doesnāt happen until the projectile leaves the barrel. I then called Western powder and I talked to a engineer. I was told they did register recoil as soon as there was a ignition. He told me the name of the equipment that they used to measure movement and I donāt know what the name of the equipment was. I still stand behind The undeniable fact that that slower bullet always strikes higher on the paper. Iām more interested In
fact then theory. I expected different answers. Also through your hat in the ring about a sleeping rifle bullet mentioned above. PS: ITS NO FUN TO ASK A EASY QUESTION .
A gun is always loaded until it is not!
@TODD- Bingo I think thatās might be the right answer. You could win a trip to recoil land if you have the right flag.
Orange, yellow or white?
@Todd- BEST ANSWER SO FAR> NOW WERE TALKIN LOTO<Best answer for recoil.
@Karacal- 2ND PLACE FOR NOT Shaving. [ RECOIL ]
@KARACAL- > 1ST. PLACE AWARD FOR Worse ANSWER< Sleeping bullet.
Yea!
And I didnāt need to ālikeā on FB to win anythingš¤£
I think the recoil starts the minute the primer is ignited. The recoil is caused by the powder exploding not the Bullitt leaving the muzzel?

TRUE OR FALSE > a mini ball is a small round projectile < ??
True or false
Statistically speaking, 22 LR causes more firearm related deaths than any other cartridge.
22 L.R. CAUSED DEATHS ? >>FALSE<< my instinct is to say true but, last study I looked at the 22 caliber 32 caliber and 44 caliber were thrown out of the study. The studies are very confusing. I am more than likely wrong but it depends which study you look at. For example a five year study done by the Massachusetts police department was too confusing for me to understand. If you include the 22 LR and suicide related deaths Iām sure the 22 is at the top of the list. When I was in high school a kid across the street committed suicide with a 22 Long rifle. I helped clean the kids brains off of the ceiling so his parents wouldnāt see it. So yeah they sure can kill.
Karacal- some types of BULLETS DO SLEEP. MOST COMMON ARE : V.L.D. = very low drag rifle bullets. They are longer and may also have a boat tail. The bullets are designed to produce higher coefficients/ less are drag over longer distances hence instability May occur in the beginning of the bullet flight and stabilize at longer distances. Funny thing is : a projectile that has more weight over the bearing surface ( shorter same weight bullet )will inherently be more accurate but at the same time will have a poor coefficients at longer ranges.
TRUE OR FALSE<<< you got free nodes when you bought your rifle ??
