Traveling to Washington State and Oregon for Vacation

My wife and I are flying to Seattle and will be road tripping through Washington and Oregon. I would like to carry my firearm but am not sure if it’s worth the trouble. I have a Texas CCL. If I have to keep it locked up and unloaded and unaccessible I’m not sure what good it does me. Advice from this group?

Says right on the reciprocity map '“NO”. Problem solved.

My question was intended to be more of a “should I take it even though I can’t carry it?” kind of question. I know they do not have reciprocity and I can’t carry it concealed.

Fore warned is fore armed. Your choice is up to you now.

The Left Coast and the Eastern side of both states are polar opposites. The East side of both states have been trying to breakoff for decades. Flying into Seattle with a gun is not a good idea.

A very long time ago in Klamath Oregon some jerk passing through decided to rob a bank. There were 10 businessmen in the bank. He pulled a gun and announced a holdup then set the gun down and waited for the police. There were 7 guns pointed at him. Police strolled in, hooked him up and left laughing.

Thanks for the advice. That is what I was thinking. Guess I’ll carry pepper spray and my knife instead.

Be careful about mag capacity limits.

My UT nonresident permit allows me some freedom in WA.

I thought Oregon is just as bad as California but apparently not. Without a license, you can open carry but not carry in vehicle?

@Billy68 introduce yourself here :backhand_index_pointing_down:t2:

In Oregon you are free to open carry pretty much in the whole state except Portland. It’s not unusual to see people open carry either so don’t feel you are unwelcome for doing so. I open carry all the time and have never had an issue.

As far as Washington. I’m not certain. Maybe check if the laws allow you to carry if you have. Utah carry permit. I know Utah offers permits for out of staters. Then again, not sure how often you’d be going to Washington or if it’s just one time. Have fun.
