I guess this could have been totally random but something tells me there is more to this story. The dad didn’t “Just Intervene”, Nope the dad was in a real fight, got hit more than once or twice.

Reads like the kid was climbing steps and nearly inside the camper after parting ways with friends when he was attacked. I don’t think any one of us would be expecting this outcome given the circumstances. Two steps from having a door between him and the attacker.

Hypothetical Situation: IF you have a vehicle and park your car inside a Garage
Do you look to the door(s) when you open it/Them? or do you get in the car open the doors and simply pull out?
Do you ‘Warm’ your car outside when it’s cold and go back inside and finish your Coffee and get your stuff, load your pockets and get ready to leave?
When you pull into your Driveway/Garage at the end of the day do you have your door still locked?
Do you look around as you get close to your house?
Looking for suspicious activity, something that isn’t right?
Do you ‘Check 6’ INSIDE the Garage before you get out or just get out?
Do you close the door and wait for it all the way closed or activate the doors and go inside?
A lot of folk’s DIE in their Garages, their Front walks, Their Foyer’s while shutting their doors deranged. People get Assaulted/Killed in a Shopping mall parking lot. I’ve witnessed people unload their carts and NEVER look around
They are on their phones and loading with the other hand.
I’ve almost bumped into dozens of walking dead on their phones walking right at me oblivious I was even there. What if I had a knife or Gun?
What if my intentions were Evil?
I even ‘Loop’ my Sisters big bag to the cart in Walmart just to give me an edge if I miss some skell eyeballing it. (she now wears her gun on her person because scrambling around in that cavernous bag could give a BG the edge.

I’m also conscious of what’s in my hand(s)—grocery bags most of the time. Do I drop precious kale and broccoli if I sense trouble?
If I check 6 (and it’s clear I load and unload (still scoping as I do).
I use to carry (2) cases of Bottled (Water, Green Tea, Gatorade) now I ‘CART’ them.
A small ‘Dolly’ so my Gun hand is free–Besides my Physical ability has changed (2) months ago I now use my Cane occasionally. So Cane hand (2) bags Groceries/Gun hand free…
Roger that. However I believe that every one of us will be vulnerable to an attack at some point whenever we are out in public. All it takes is the wrong person at the right time.
