THIS is what the Pentagon feels is worthy to concentrate on

We’re close to WWIII, our military is being run by cretins, and these neanderthals feel the best use of their time is to consider stripping Medal of Honor recipients from 130 years ago of their medals. WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE???

Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III has ordered the Department of Defense to review the Medal of Honor awarded to 20 soldiers for their actions in the Wounded Knee Massacre that took place in 1890.

Austin wrote in a memo, “The [special review panel] may consider the context of the overall engagement as appropriate, including as necessary to understand each [Wounded Knee Creek Medal of Honor] recipient’s individual actions.”

In a separate statement, a senior defense official shared, “It’s never too late to do what’s right.”

The official added, “And that’s what is intended by the review that the secretary directed, which is to ensure that we go back and review each of these medals in a rigorous and individualized manner to understand the actions of the individual in the context of the overall engagement.”

On December 29, 1890, the 7th U.S. Calvary Regiment arrested members of the Lakota tribe for violating a government ban on a Native American spiritual ritual called “Ghost Dancing.”

Once arrested, soldiers held them at a camp near Wounded Knee Creek in South Dakota.

As soldiers attempted to disarm members of the Lakota Tribe, a gun was accidentally discharged, and U.S. soldiers opened fire.

A battle quickly ensued, resulting in more than 250 Lakota tribe members being killed.

Twenty-five U.S. soldiers were also killed in the engagement.

Devil’s advocate question, do soldiers who opened fire on unarmed people without provocation deserve the MOH?

By all accounts, these folks were practicing a religion and part of that is something called the Ghost Dance. The US Military did not like the Ghost Dance and therefore attacked the Native Americans for it. Not one single individual was armed or was a valid threat to anyone. Men, Women, and Children were literally massacred. Not an honorable action.

I understand with all that is going on in the world, this seems like a waste of time. I have been in the military and know the people doing these reviews are not likely to be detrimental to preventing war or planning a successful military operation. An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. This massacre is an abominable injustice, and the awards are just a part of the injustice. Another aspect of this injustice is why did it take this long to do this?

I don’t know what happened, I wasn’t there. History IS written by the victors. But one thing I know for sure is that the military should be more focused on current world events, not trying to destroy the morale any further than they already have,

You might be right about this one. LLoyd Austin, the Secretary of Defense was missing for two weeks, so we know he is not integral to planning.

Thank you for your service.

History IS written by the victors.

True, but evidence and facts can’t change. It can be hidden, but in this case, the evidence is overwhelming and came bubbling to the surface. Government has a long and rich history of violence, whether it is on a large scale like this or on a smaller scale like the two male police officers that killed a single, unarmed female in her own home. Seems to me the police have taken Castle Rock vs Gonzalez to an extreme. They do not have a duty to protect the individual, but in their minds, they have a duty to murder and completely ignore 18 USC 242, 42 USC 1985, and 42 USC 1986.

Take the fact that we are now being told by the media that the border czar, Kamala Harris was never appointed border czar. That’s an outright attempt to change history, for political purposes. It’s an blatent lie, but people without a proper frame of reference will accept it as truth, as it comes from the media. Ask yourself “Why now?” Why, after 134 years is this suddenly more important than planning for a terrorist attack on our own soil, that is now inevitable because we have allowed 10 to 16 million people in with zero vetting?

The left is sowing discord in every facet of our lives, and it is deliberate. Tarnishing the concept of the Medal of Honor in this instance. Well, someone in authority 134 years ago WAS there. They awarded those medals for some reason. Where is the honor in taking the medals back posthumously, when these men can’t even defend themselves?

Devils advocate in reverse…in the battle that ensued, if at no fault of starting the battle, a soldier acts in a manner that would under any other circumstances warrant a MOH, would he not deserve it here as well? Abhorrent as the massacre was, HOW battles start is almost never an individual soldier’s doing. There were casualties on the army’s side as well so, again, could a soldier not, even in such an abhorrent situation, still act in a manner that deserves a MOH?

Sounds to me like 1) He doesn’t have enough to do or 2) He doesn’t/can’t do what he is supposed to do.

Points well made, but the fact remains, why were they there in the first place? What precipitated their involvement in these people’s lives? They found gold in the Black Hills and wanted to remove the natives from there so the gold could be recovered unimpeded. Like it or not, these people had natural rights. Natural rights are rights that all men are granted by God or nature. These peoples’ natural rights were denied, and they had no redress of grievances from the government. But wait, South Dakota was not a state, it was a territory. Wait, maybe not even a legal entity of territory, but an independent nation. If the latter is true, as I believe it to be, the Army, from Custer to the bugler, had no mandate to be there. And therefore, no action taken was legal and therefore the MoH was issued in error. On the grounds that natural rights were denied, if this were a military tribunal, Custer died a criminal and the actions taken by the Army at Wounded Knee are illegal and constitute an act of aggression with no legal standing. The review should take as long as it took me to write this reply and all 20 MoH revoked with prejudice. We can not issue aware for war crimes. And “just following orders” is no defense.

The Indians had their guns confiscated. I am kind of surprised that on a site where we advocate 2A and natural rights of self-defense, we are forgetting the government denied these people their natural rights of self-defense and stole their lands. Any casualties on the US side would have to have more than likely come from friendly fire as the Indians were denied their weapons of offense/defense. They were also denied their right to practice their religion as they saw fit. How many more of their rights do we have to point out that were denied? Redress of grievances? Imagine you are at church and the government sent soldiers to remove you from your church. They disarm you. They surround you and suddenly, a shot rings out. After the smoke clears … wait, you won’t see what happened after the smoke cleared because you’re dead. The government then writes reports, leaving out all criminalities on their part, lying about criminal activity on your part. I am starting to get confused about what we are talking about because Ruby Ridge and Waco has some familiarity with this.

Ok, but if we are to ask that question, then we need to ask the same question as to why were the Europeans on the American continent to start with?
How far back do we go…why did various tribes/people of the past migrate into new territories more often than not supplanting indigenous peoples? Germanic tribes in Scandinavia, for example. Mongols in Asia.

Why did the Homo Sapiens come out of Africa and more or less kill off the Neanderthals?

I’m not trying to defend genocide or any abhorrent behavior past or current but context of the past does matter and cancel culture is not a good thing either.

Why can’t the Government just leave history alone and worry about today and forward, there is enough to worry about now and going forward. It’s not like they don’t have enough to take care of now.

Because history is full of government malfeasance. And while it may not be possible to correct them all, we can extract a little justice when it is possible. As freedom loving Americans, we should strive for that wherever an injustice exists, and some measure of correction can be achieved.

Because the " Left" in America is obsessed with the PC nonsense.
The left is busy trying to erase American History. Instead of learning from bad history and not repeating bad choices in history the “Left” in America ( always prior to an election) will bring up old ghosts to spark the news media … the " Left hates America and feels wronged by our History.
Fact is that most of the bad history created in America was by the Left.

There is no justice in changing something that is not of our time. It can very well turn into a lesson not to be repeated. History is history and it cannot be changed, all we can do is write our own with our actions. I for one don’t believe that the destruction of all these civil war monuments should happen. It is a time of our history that should be remembered, if nothing more than for what it did to our country. It is a time gone by. Taking a medal from man long forgotten serves no purpose but to get people who live for controversy stirred up today. I say he should do his job and try to take care of the people here now and possibly the future. That is where his history should be pointed at.

Spineless pastors and clergy are the #1 problem, not politicians. They can change people’s thinking and they are hiding under their desks, worried more about filling the pews and cash-plates with cash. If you attend a church with a pastor who doesn’t have the guts to speak out on these issues (to the congregation, not just to the elders or deacons), make a stink. If that does not work, leave and find a pastor with the guts to speak out. False prophets in the clergy are everywhere, in mega churches and small churches. This is not the time for feel-good-about-yourself sermons or ‘entertainment’ theology.
