Why did Allan have a public defender in the first place? That question was never answered in the video. And don’t say no one could get ahold of him.

He claims he can’t speak on a trial that’s already done and over with, but he’s free to speak about the ongoing appeal? That’s not cutting it. My question remains.

Not sure what you mean on the over and done with, but if it’s over and done with I’ll bet you can Google up a lot of information about it.

You question can remain, it is a reasonable question, but, at this time, as an ongoing legal situation for a member, the available information about Mr Colie’s case is already quite a bit considering it’s his situation and nobody else really needs to know about it.

Perhaps he will share himself at some point?

On Wednesday, 12/27/23. Attorney Andrew Branca, one of the public critics of USCCA’s handling of the two cited cases, will address his concerns in reply to Tim Schmidt’s YouTube statement in his own podcast, You can find it as the Law of Self Defense podcast on both Rumble and YouTube.
I am posting this based on email from LoSD, prior to the podcast, so have no comment Branca’s statements themselves.

CALL USCCA AND TALK TO THEM INSTEAD OF ASKING QUESTIONS OF PEOPLE WHO DON’T WORK FOR THEM.

There I said it. Sheesh…

Thanks for the info Brother Craig

But… Phuck Mr. Branca.
Stand on your own merits Mr. Branca, Stop stirring the Hate and disinformation.
last time I checked it was still a FREE country to choose who, what, when, where we
govern ourselves. Do as good a job as Tim-D-USCCA and you could actually be somebody
…probably not! But you could try. There are all sorts of ā€˜Troll’s’ out there and you sir our

I am also a proud USCCA member. I will probably continue to keep my membership and hope I never need the coverage. Regardless of Tim’s video and the fact that the insurance company has never recovered any moneys that were laid (paid) out on the members behalf. A contract is always a contract. My concern is not weather the insurance company has ever collected or recovered moneys back from the members, for their defense. I believe Tim when he stated the insurance company has not collected a dime. My question is has the insurance company EVER on an unappealable change of plea, so much as put out a demand letter for recovery? Also, has the insurance company ever damaged a members credit by even putting out a demand letter for recovery of fees paid out or contacted a credit reporting agencies.

USCCA is a great company with many good quality features. Delta Defense not so much. lawyers are contractually required to provide pretrial discovery to Delta Defense on the defense case of its USCCA members. It should be noted Kayla Giles’ defense lawyer thought she had a good self-defense case. The judge in her case agreed and allowed her to argue self-defense. It was then, that Delta Defense’s bean counters (If they were lawyers, they represent Delta Defense, not the USCCA member) decided that Kayla Giles had committed a crime (before trial), so she was not eligible to be covered. Did the same thing happen to Alan Colie? Obviously, he had a good self-defense argument, because a jury acquitted him on the more serious charge. Tim Schmidt has to sever his relationship with Delta Defense and get a better member-friendly insurance carrier.

USCCA is a quality company that puts out a lot of awesome features, but Delt Defense is causing a lot of public relations problems by being your typical insurance company. Insurance companies aren’t in the business of paying claims. They collect premiums and put them into real estate and other lucrative investments. They will pay what they have to pay out in claims, but not if they can help it. I know. I spent 15 years of my 34 year career as a private investigator protecting them from fraud. I’ve seen my share of legitimate claims the company denied and fought. Bottom line. USCCA promises its member they will pay their legal fees up front and pay their bail. They will pay up to $750 per day in lost wages. Alan Colie spent six months in jail while awaiting trial. He was represented by a public defender. What happened? It’s a question I’m sure every USCCA member has. Full disclosure, I used to be a USCCA member until news broke that Kayla Giles was denied coverage by USCCA. I was understandably concerned, because being a USCCA member did not go well for her. I reached out to USCCA and inquired. I was essentially told that USCCA (I’m guessing they really meant Delta Defense) discovered Kayla Giles got USCCA coverage in order to shoot her ex. What bothered me was that all USCCA marketing materials talk about how they have it’s members’ backs. Yet before her own trial started, USCCA/Delta Defense determined she was guilty of a crime, therefore they would not cover her. Not feeling comfortable, I canceled my USCCA membership. I’m not knocking Tim. Like I said, he has a quality company. I just feel that Delta Defense is causing him problems. He may want to persuade them to alter their practices or sever his relationship with them.

For the record, USCCA 0 employees. The association, as in the members, are the USCCA. All employees are Delta Defense employees.

Tim Schmidt is the founder and president of the USCCA and is the founder, owner, CEO of Delta Defense.

If you have ever contacted the USCCA and spoken to anybody, they were a Delta Defense employee.

Kayla Giles committed a heavy pre planned, premeditated murder. Definitively. Lost all the appeals. She’s a murderer.

Murderers should not be privy to the defense expenses/etc that are intended for acts of self defense by members/additional insureds.

There has to be a line somewhere to avoid literally ending up as ā€œmurder insuranceā€ as the anti gun and anti self defense types claim things like USCCA membershp are.

Alan Colie was never denied coverage. My understanding is there is a current appeal with a lawyer paid for by USCCA member benefits. Probably not a lot of info out on the case right now because it is an active, ongoing case.

The USCCA’s insurer has paid out tens of millions of dollars on behalf of thousands of members.

They kind of are in the business of paying claims, that is why they exist.

Currently, the Universal Fire and Casualty Insurance Company is the insurer behind the policy that USCCA members are additional insureds on. Delta Defense is a licensed insurance agency in all 50 states and D.C. but the insurance company behind the policy is the UFCIC.

This doesn’t substantially change the nature of what you are saying but just laying it out so you understand the structure going on

Delta Defense/USCCA do not collect premiums, they collect membership payments.

The top membership benefit is still the training and education.
