Just had an Afghanistan flashback…using the laying in or on the side of the road faking injury trick…Good Samaritans turn into Martyrs real quick.

Finding that gem, which can’t be unseen, required a deep delve, much like searching for baby formula!

Aside from keeping your head on a swivel and being aware of your surroundings, I would also suggest never going out with headphones or earbuds in both ears. I live in Alabama, and people like to sit in their cars and watch you coming out of the store. I have also noticed guys following girls, who are alone, through the store, as if they are going to try to kidnap them.

I have had people approach me to ask for the time or ask if I have a cigarette. I know that this is a tactic used to check reaction or have you take your eyes off of them. When they ask for the time, I always raise my watch just below eye level, so that I can see them the whole time, and I always take a step back in case I need to react physically. Some people call me paranoid and I am okay with that. They will not be calling me “victim”.

Haven’t worn a watch since 2001, don’t care what day it is and quit smoking after 35 years July 4th, 2007. Never use my phone in public, I’m the predator, I’m looking for the next @ss#ole. Ten foot radius is my zone, don’t cross it!
I would never let anyone get close enough to ask for the time of day, if you did I’m asking who you voted for, if it’s the wrong answer at the wrong time on the wrong day, I’ll be polite, professional and I have a definitive plan! Most importantly, never ever take your eyes off the predator, no one needs the time of day, no one needs a cigarette and I don’t wear a vest that says “information here”, take a hike!
You don’t really want to know what time it is, do you? We’ll do ya?

Be carful of the help me trick.

Yep! Don’t do damsels in distress either. Oldest trick in the book!
Hasn’t always been this way. I used to have an open door policy, you brought the beer, I provided the frozen mugs. ( Still keep 2 in the freezer ) Everyone was welcome and all could be trusted!
Who can you trust now? There is no border, we are not a sovereign nation and the administration blatantly lies and frees the guilty!
That alone is enough to change one’s view of the future!

Why, I even saved a life before. March 1984, traveling up I-95, when a couple from Ohio returning from the wedding of their daughter got crushed by a semi against the guardrail. After extricating the husband ( by myself ) and doing everything I could, well, it was time to work on the wife, who was pinned between the guardrail and the steering wheel, that’s about the time I received extra hands, there was no time to waste. The saddest part of my life was having to lie to her each time she asked about her husband. The shock would have killed her, as he lay between the car and the truck. I was young, trained, invincible and would lend a hand to anyone that needed it. Metaphorically speaking, today, I want to know who you voted for!

I don’t mean to claim to be a badass, I don’t know how I’m going to win, I just know I’m not going to lose! For all intents and purposes I’m probably going to lose, but I’m taking one with me!

You know what sucks the most when getting older, you lose the Superman or Neo feeling you had at age 12 - 22, when you knew “absolutely” you could stop that bullet. Today, I’d be lucky if I could stop a pillow.

Hopefully my plan of the “don’t come near me attitude” keeps me and my wife alive long enough to play with the great grandkids.
This administration introduced the slow drip of death and brought down, not the best and not such a perfect union, in less than a year!

I had no part in changing this world, I didn’t cause climate change, I’m not racist, I’m not deplorable, if anything, I’m ultra ordinary and I’m just watching Rome fall, from my lanai!
We lost our country, or at least the one I grew up in, and we’re making memes about it!
I have a totally different philosophy about it, but we lost free speech! So as I walk the streets that the inmates are ruling, one has to maintain a particular attitude or you become a victim. We’re living in the prison yard, not outside it. We’ve come to a point, where I’d rather be a victim than a corpse!

People that “actually” voted for this administration, get exactly what they deserve, as we did. We got peace through strength, food on the shelves, safer streets, lower gas prices decent wages, personal and professional growth and unfortunately a New Yorker with a big mouth, thumbs and new technology.
Any man that can make the promises he did, and accomplish them with one hand tied behind his back, is the guy I want running the country! It’s obvious, anyone can destroy, but the one I respect is the one who can create, sustain and repair.

Seriously, would you let this guy work on your car? How about the guy with the dirty mouth, dirty hands and arrogant attitude. Yeah, he’s the guy under your car right now!
Boy! What I would give for a Carter or a Nixon, they made mistakes, what’s happening now is no mistake. And we can’t fix it, because the cheater ALWAYS has an ace up his sleeve and we invited him to the game, theoretically, I do blame Trump for this.
He had a duty under the Constitution to protect the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic! Kudos on the foreign an F on the domestic.

So, yeah, I talk the talk, I limp the walk, the odds are stacked against the good guy, we have rules and codes! They don’t!

OMG = down Rambo, I got to go out but We can have more cross talk to follow.
For now try to remember what my friend use to say when we thought thought the end was near.
“ AS LONG AS THEY DON’T EAT US, WE MIGHT BE OK “
PS: happy thoughts.

I highly recommend the book “The Gift of Fear”.

Excellent examples how criminals attempt to befriend you to gain advantage. What to look out for. How to respond or react to a complete stranger asking “to help you with your groceries” and other methods to gain your confidence in secluded environments.

The Gift of Fear is all about trusting your intuition. I.e. “The hair raising on the back of your neck”. And not rationalizing “oh he’s probably a good person wanting to help me”.

Excellent reading for women in particular.

Examples how these tactics gain access to your car or home, and how to avoid those tactics. Also many real life examples of the bad things that happen when you let down your guard.

Personalized car tags with your name on them are a no-no. Allows a criminal to get inside your defenses by using your name and pretending they know you. Tag = HSMYTH = “Hey! Ms. Smyth! Remember me? We met at that function last week!”

You said you were Quitting USCCA.
THIS IS A FINE MESS YOU GOT ME INTO.

Great response and completely agree. The USCCA training videos are a great start. However, how advanced we may seem to be, refreshing and rewatching these videos is a must. I always pull new ideas or info from trainings and also forces us to get to the basics. If we cannot do the basics WELL, we automatically place ourselves in advanced training failure. 90% Dry Fire :fire:, 9% Live Fire :fire: for the 1% real (and hopefully never) “work".

I find that if you are being targeted, they will give it away, you just have to watch for it. They will always give you that “you’re it” look before they move. Watch for it. I was in Phillie when I caught the look, and simply, by my actions, let him know I caught him. Everything went well after that.

In these situations, I always tell them I can call the police to come and help. It’s amazing how that always gets the car running again.

That’s why I flash my flashlight into cars at a distance. Be surprised how many people are sitting in back seats, passenger seats, driver seats, hidden by the dark. The flashlight really shows you what you can’t see.
