Tactical Tuesday: seated shooting

As we train to defend ourselves, we take a lot of factors into consideration, including limitations we might have or situational settings. Self-defense doesn't always happen from a standing position. There are times when we may have to defend ourselves from a seated position. Check out this video for an idea of how to train from a seated position:

How often do you train to shoot from a seated position? What are the biggest challenges you face in that position?

Carry cross side or 2 o’clock, right handed. My problem is always behind me at 5 & 6 o’clock. Can only get this to work if I turn in my chair.

Not allowed at any of the ranges I visit. Seems like a good idea, though.

I’m attending class every month where we practice shooting from different weird positions (car seats, chairs).

Biggest challenge - have a good grip during drawing from sitting position.
It happened to me that somehow I pressed mag release button and dropped mag… Yeah, drawing from the seat is not a fun…

Good reason to have a spare handy I guess?

Haha, yes, definitely yes…
Not enough I dropped the mag… instead of reaching for a spare one and do reload… I picked up the old one from the ground… :grimacing:
Two mistakes during one drill…

When I get home from work and I am aching I sit in my recliner and practice with my Sirt laser system. I have the system at variable times and at variable targets to keep things more real.
