The only reason needed to go permit-less, is we have the 2nd Amendment.
The criminals don’t care about permits, FOID cards, etc. They intend to break the law. They don’t care how many they are breaking.
As a mother and grandmother, I wish there was a way we could reduce these tragedies. But unfortunately, bad people will do bad things and sometimes good people screw up.
We cannot change what bad people are going to do. The threat of punishment doesn’t seem deter them.
The only thing we can do is continue to remind good people about the best gun safety, handling and training for their safety – and everyone else’s safety.
Hopefully, responsibly, well-trained gun owners can influence people to take gun safety seriously. However, I don’t think we’ll ever be able to change how bad people behave – short of Minority Report type activity.
Free people as envisioned by our Founding Fathers, wherein they wrote our RKBA “shall not be infringed.”
100% agree.
We are free without regulations…unfortunately also free to be stupid
Problem Solved, Kind of.
He said in a plea statement had been “drinking heavily” and taking prescription drugs at home with his roommate on July 9, 2021.
“I brought out my handgun, which I thought was unloaded, having previously checked it. Unfortunately, there was still a bullet in the chamber and, while recklessly ‘dry’ firing, the gun went off,” he said.
Well, apparently heavy drinking and prescription drugs loaded that bullet in the chamber.
In an ideal world this wouldn’t have happened. Unfortunately, that world will never exist on Earth.
Next best thing is America.
In an ideal America… justice would be administered.
Doesn’t undo the irreparable damage. Hopefully he spends way more time in jail than the minimum 1 year on his sentence before they let him out to continue being a threat to society. He was apparently not allowed to have a firearm in the first place almost certainly due to one and likely more previous serious crimes.
