Imagine Puyallup and Tacoma if Mount Rainier ever blew! Then you have the Nisqually river and Alder Dam above it. The river runs down through Fort Lewis Army Base. Many rivers run under the Interstate 5 and would be destroyed in many spots. Mount Rainier stands 35 miles as a crow fly from Tacoma.
This has been a concern of where I live. How could I get out? I would not be able to go anywhere, and no one would be able to get here for there would be no access to do so.
I donāt have a bug out plan for the above solution. I have several families in my neighborhood that I work with. We are like family. That sounds like a network to me. If we canāt drive, my thoughts would be to rally this community and head to the closest local family that we work with. (Some of them are related. Not saying it would be permanent, but they wouldnāt turn us away in the short term. And they know I have skills to help them in this situation.
I also have family very close. In the above scenario, their place is likely destroyed too. If we can, we would go to some other family 90 miles away. Thatās too far to make it on foot. But if vehicles still work, thatās the first place we go.
I have family in two different states in other regions of the country. They arenāt necessarily preppers, but they people who would know how to survive and have other resources. In a true bug out scenario (assuming the roads are open and vehicles work), relocating to family really is my tentative plan. Does that make me a refugee at least in transit? Yeah. But itās the best I got.
At the end of the day, Iām sorry. Some situations are not survivable.
I wonāt make it a month given the anti-rejection meds and all of the rest I need to just live. My plan is to get my wife to a sonās home and they can make a run for it. I will go back home and see it out. I worry about my wife, kids, grandkids, extended family. I am already far past the time the doctors gave me, and have had a most amazing life. And, I am not afraid. Made my peace with the good Lord a long time ago.
A lot of seniors will die when the meds run out. We are now the oldest couple in our neighborhood. I am looking at which guns to sell and which to give the grandkids. Recently gave 2 10-22ās away to grandkid and his wife. Early inheritance.
Even with unlimited funds and resources we canāt be ready for everything all the time. Sometimes we just get unlucky and are stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time. And other times we can do everything wrong and pull through either through devine intervention or dumb luck.
Itās important to find the right balance of preparing for tomorrow and enjoying today the best we can.
Think about the millionaires that bought into missile silo bunkers. They have to get there and what if the guards donāt let them in? The billionaires either have or are building luxury bunkers.
I wonder if the billionaires are smart enough to realize that if they donāt have enough space for the guards and their families that the guards will just boot the billionaires out?
I also hope the guards realize that the reason we all may be needing to hide in bunkers soon is because of the actions of some of the billionaires who are building the bunkers right now. Hopefully the guards treat them the way they deserve to be treated.
āUnless I get hungry, then I might eat some of them ā
See, there we go again. Iām plump enough to be considered well marbled. But Iām telling you now in case I wind up in an Apocalypse with you I am a bitter, bitter old man. Plus I drink lemon juice to make me even more bitter.
Iām in the middle of highways 99 and 5.
North of me, two cities with combined population of 700k, 300k to the south.
Thereās nowhere to go when a million people are on the move at the same time.
Could work in my favor. Lots of meals, the Donner variety.
I have the land, but nothing else on it and I know where to put down for water. Iām years out as well. My wife and I went from comfortably able to do whatever we wanted to having to being very careful on spending. Like we took one vacation during the Joe and Ho show
If we ever got together for a meal I believe I would sit with my back against a wall and a firearm in my lap⦠Just saying. And if anyone said rapidly āHey! Don, Look at that naked woman over thereā I would turn my chair over drop and roll (and possibly come up shooting) !
You guyās donāt want to eat me! There are plenty of other humans on the planet that would be more tasty (and fit better in your Stew Pots!) (64) years old and tough as a Marines Boot!
To me, Itās the perfect mid length location for survival. I have filters and well water hookup, along with tablets to purify water in the campers bladder. Additionally, it can be covered with the material I use for building duck blinds for hunting so if I need to hide the camper, I can. Aldo has a solar panel on top of it to charge the campers battery so should be able to keep basic needed electronics charged up.
All I need now is night vision so that I can see whatās on the lake at night. I think the lake is great security but could also be the weak point allowing for an ambush at night of someone wanted to take my stuff. Itās important to know our strengths but also identify where our plan has weak spots so we can find ways to improve them.
