I have the land, but nothing else on it and I know where to put down for water. I’m years out as well. My wife and I went from comfortably able to do whatever we wanted to having to being very careful on spending. Like we took one vacation during the Joe and Ho show
If we ever got together for a meal I believe I would sit with my back against a wall and a firearm in my lap… Just saying. And if anyone said rapidly ‘Hey! Don, Look at that naked woman over there’ I would turn my chair over drop and roll (and possibly come up shooting) !
You guy’s don’t want to eat me! There are plenty of other humans on the planet that would be more tasty (and fit better in your Stew Pots!) (64) years old and tough as a Marines Boot!
To me, It’s the perfect mid length location for survival. I have filters and well water hookup, along with tablets to purify water in the campers bladder. Additionally, it can be covered with the material I use for building duck blinds for hunting so if I need to hide the camper, I can. Aldo has a solar panel on top of it to charge the campers battery so should be able to keep basic needed electronics charged up.
All I need now is night vision so that I can see what’s on the lake at night. I think the lake is great security but could also be the weak point allowing for an ambush at night of someone wanted to take my stuff. It’s important to know our strengths but also identify where our plan has weak spots so we can find ways to improve them.

I would love to not be either, but there are instances where it could be beneficial to have. Ie, lights, communication devices, radios, refrigerator to keep food stored, etc.
Being able to go without those things is an important skill, but if you CAN have the ability to use it, it can make life much easier and increase your chances of survival.
Especially now when the newer iPhones have Satellite Emergecy messaging capabilities. A HUGE bonus for those of us that frequently find ourselves well outside of cell phone range.
I held on to my 12 Pro Max because it did everything I needed but when the 15 announced that capability I had to pull the trigger. Much cheaper than a SAT phone which I was getting ready to buy.
Sit tight someplace safe for the next 72 hours or so. The emergency might blow over. Lay low, light a small fire, get close to it. Don’t draw attention to yourself. Wait. Patience.
Arm yourself immediately.
If you must scavenge to survive, be careful out there.
Have to say @Tim.D_USCCA it’s nice seeing someone from the USCCA on here and chatting. Plus it seems like you have a good plan.
On topic. In the early stages of an apocalyptic event I expect travel would be severely constrained by the authorities l. So having ownership of a place to head to would probably ease the way ahead for Leo as you are not just a random refugee heading to some "better space, but a taxpaying citizen going home.
Also since you are known by the community that is already there you have a much better chance of getting there. Because trust me the people who do live in that safer space are going to be out in force dropping trees and such making travel as difficult as they can so they don’t get overwhelmed by refugees from the city who are “going into the woods as well to forage”.
Great points! The movement will 100% be one of the hardest parts. Could be traffic, lockdowns by law enforcement, or looters causing problems. Always have a plan of where you are looking to go and have alternate routes on how to get there. Your normal route is most likely main roads and freeways, so knowing how to get there by backroads (Even if it takes longer) is a good idea.
I am doing my best to be in as many places as possible to help and be a part of the community @Zavier_D. Thank you for always being a contributor!
Can I give you an ‘AMEN’ Brother?
Just a few passes up and down our Border (daily)

If it is bad enough the police will be protecting their own families especially if they are not going to be paid. Bigger threat might be people looking for an equipped rig to steal. Have your weapons ready. I ran into a “Militia” whose survival plan was being heavily armed and a list of people with preps. They knew the address of every Mormon in the area. If someone starts probing about preps, I tell them I am too old to have lots of preps and no family nearby.
To sum up the food storage, you really have three
strategies here:
Store it all in your house and plan on defending it by force.
Bury it in your yard in case you get overrun by looters.
Store part of it in your house, and hide the bulk of it.
One alternative is to plan on defending your home
with force. If you have enough gun-wise people in
the house, and enough fi rearms and ammo, you can
probably pull this of
Firearms are useful for obvious reasons. In the worst case scenario, when looting is rampant, you may have to actually shoot someone to protect yourself or your family.
